From Owlsdaily.com (Scout site) editor Shawn Pastor - thoughts?

"I've been told by a very good source that Temple has extended its deal with the MAC for two more years. The current deal expires at the end of this season. So the Owls will be playing in the MAC through at least 2012. No word on the basketball scheduling implications of the deal. My sense is that it's the same as the current deal."
Thoughts? I don't have any, I just blew my brains out!
I am not impressed. I would have given them the all or nothing ultimatum.

I would not have went that far but I would have demanded two more basketball games (to get it up to a whole division) and a two million dollar buyout.

That to me would have been fair for both parties...

Good.
Sounds fair and reasonable if true...

Go Owls, beat UConn 04-cheers
if onlywe had such luck with BCS confrence... thanks boys....
Outside of some fans on message boards, no one cares about how the MAC football schedule is balanced or not balanced, so there is no pressing need to make a change, particularly when there is no viable 14th member to add.

Strip away fan posturing on both sides of the issue, and there is benefit to all in some measure from the current agreement and will be if it is in fact extended. Great benefit? No. But some.

Some folks want the MAC to wave its club in the air simply because we have the club.

Very well-reasoned post.
The MAC appears to be the worst conference in DI FBS football right now....We have no club.
A wise HR VP once told me:

Remember, that in the carrot and stick analogy, that if the carrot is big enough, you can still hit the other person with it......

Hokey yes, but if the MAC is going to give Temple 2 more years (football) then let's use that carrot to demand (something else).

I'm happy with the deal.

It may be come December that Temple is our champion and carrying our flag into the bowl season.

Good.

But, I'll have them back together again by December.
Re: I'm happy with the deal.

What is the new deal? And did FDR serve as arbitrator?

ESPN ? TV would be my only guess.... Fan, IF espn had NO influence then how is the MAC profiting? Is it the BB games? Is the MAC getting money from somewhere I do not see?

How would they be able to influence anything?

The ESPN deal with the MAC is set in stone (at a pittance in terms of payout, I might add) until 2017, Temple or no Temple. And it can't be re-negotiated without a change in membership of more than one school.
