Full Version: How much of Ellis do you think we'll see Saturday?

Listening on the radio, it seemed the team responded to him when he went in late.

You know what they say, the most popular player on a bad football team is the backup QB.
If you start Ellis the Heltons have to have a game plan instead of send the receivers out and run the QB draw
...and the o-line has to block better.
im thinking very little, but hope a lot
None. He'll probably break his leg pouring a bowl of cereal this week, or find some other obscure way to injure himself. It's unfortunate that someone as injury prone as he is chose football as his path to go down.
I want the QB in the game that gives us the best chance of winning.

I don't have any confidence that our coaches know who that is, but I would guess that against Troy that we need to be able to run the ball and control the ball.

Izzy, I think would give us the best chance at that.

What we don't need is for the play calling to remain as predictable as it has been.

Should Ellis see some playing time? Yep.

Do we need to stop making retarded errors & act like we have played the game before? Yep.
Not near enough.

+1
J. Anderson, F. Forrest, M. Wright , M. Jones, P. Hearn, R. Carter...P. Shed, D. Bourne, J. Brooks...........
find someway to get them the damn ball... Ellis might get 2 series in the 1st half
I would love to see Ellis come out and start and play maybe every other series with izzy but I think that they need to find a way to utilize him because it seemed like the players seemed to rally around him late in the game
I was at the game in Dallas
We LOOK a lot better on offense with Ellis at QB
Issy seem so confuse or nervous on every play ..
he duck to the ground as soon somebody was close to him ....he didn't run like the previous game ..maybe his shoulder were hurt or something

The middle linebacker for UAB is too slow and bite on every fake the running back throw at him
Smu had a very simple offense ..the qb look left and pass to the left where 3 receivers doing 3 pattern (5 yards, 10 yards or long) (the five yards guy was open all night catch the ball and run an extra 2 or 5 yards
the the qb look right and pass to the right where 1 receivers doing a 10 yards route
or the qb look left and right and give the ball to the running waiting behind him
when the receivers were cover the qb fake the dl and run toward the side line for 5 or 10 yards
The only problem is if we start platooning Izzy and Ellis, we become even more predictable than we already are. Izzy = run. Ellis = pass.

Teach Ellis and Izzy a couple of passing routes and keep them in the game at the same time. Now there is a Vulcan offense for you.

If these clowns think Ellis and Izzy are the best options, then I want to see Bento and Perry.
So far, it appears the best receiver we've got right now is Borne. If the ball is thrown in a 5 yard radius to him on a wheel route, he's automatic.

That assumes that our coaches learn some creativity. I promise you, if Ellis is in we pass. If Izzy is in we run. Defesive play calling doesn't get any easier than that.
Well, I'm not with them everyday to see who's the best QB, so I don't really care who plays. If the coaches pick one over the other, then we'll go with the one since that's the coaches' job. I just hope we hold the coaches accountable for the results at the end of the season.
