I think KajunRaider and I were discussing this yesterday...Seems they are required to have a balanced board with equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats. Looks like Bredesens crony is on his way out. Maybe we can get some pro MT people in there.

I find it laughable that you guys want to include other member fans in your discussion when some of you MTSU fans find it "difficult" to get other schools' name changes correct. The funniest thing isn't even the "Troy State" stuff...It's the Louisiana schools. I hope to God that you get your name changed to the UMT...It would make my day...03-lmfao
i wonder who's the "flagship institution" of the TBR system....

It was a discussion we had on this board and wasn't just about a name change. As far as others names, I always try and use the name others request and have defended their right to do so on other boards. Seems like you have ASSumed the reason for my post incorrectly.

As long as we beat you guys on the field, it really doesn't matter what moniker they give you and we will beat you most years as we have in the past.
Memphis State is the flagship of Southeastern Arkansas. Memphis' best & brightest are coming in droves to THE University of Middle Tennessee .

the TBR is not an athletic entity...but it is the reason our endowment is 3x MTSU's
This would have little to do with a name change, and more to do with better funding for the best performing university in the TBR system.

MT has been waiting on funding for a new science building for what seems like a decade (probably is a decade by now). It always seems to be #1 on the list and gets bumped down for another school's project. MT is funded the least per student, has the highest enrollment, best graduation rate, fastest growing community, etc. It's time for the TBR to support MT as it deserves and has earned.

Drew, the state does not fund Memphis' endowment. Those are straight up operating dollars.

Endowments come from donations, grants, etc...

and as the TBR flagship research institution we get lots more grants to fund the research...thus, the much larger endowment...try and keep up with the rest of the class...

Different universities, different missions.

Anyone pretending that MT should have a med. school, law school, architechture school, engineering program, etc. is being illogical. We're great at what we do. And we get by with less than any other in the system. Imagine what we could do with more funding.

The students in Tennessee are "voting" overwhelmingly for MTSU. As usual, the politicians don't care.

A large endowment doesn't always mean better academics. It's means you have more and/or larger donors/donations. You talk about academics and you can't even make a reasonable and logical argument.

Next time try "much more" or "noticably more." "Lot's more" sounds like an 8th grader.

No, it was the "intelligence PO PO." Please use at least a 12th grade vocabulary.
