It was a pretty good showing for a relatively inexperienced team.
Schilz looked really good for his first start and the offense performed admirably.
The defense was offensive and needs a LOT of attention.
I'm fairly upbeat from this game.

Bowling Green has a good team. I saw a lot of bright spots for such a young team. I think they're going to be one of the better teams in the MAC this season still. For a freshman, Schilz looked very good. BG has some clutch receivers too. They didn't drop too many passes. Plus Geter is just a beast at RB.

I saw the end of the game.
Was the 15 yard penalty which set up the game winning FG fair or a homer call?
I didn't see a replay so I'm not sure.

Should have used him once the ball was in Troy territory at the end of the game. I've seen this mistake lots of times. Still doesn't make it right.

Fells led with his helmet as the QB was sliding. Technically a good call. Once a QB begins his slide he is pretty much off limits then add the helmet and hello flag.

It was a sloppy game for both teams. Lots of penalties, turnovers, missed assignments, missed tackles etc... Both teams also showed some talent. I think BG will be strong MAC team by the time they are done with OOC.
BG looked good early and gained a 17-7 lead. Then the offense was shut down for nearly 2 quarters as Troy gradually pulled ahead. BG had their chances but 3 late mistakes really doomed us. Missed FG, low pass that the reciver popped up in the air and then was intercepted and then the personal foul. We had a zillion missed tackles mixed in.
Kick return and punt return looked great. Pronty and Cooper.
Geter had a big run early but we were not able to effectively run in the red zone again.
Kamar Jorden looked real good.
Schilz has a little bit of gunslinger in him yet. He was throwing some ill advised passes but that's the freshman in him. I agree with an earlier post, we will really like this kid in the end.

I've always heard the most improvements happen during weeks 1 & 2. Maybe that will be the case for both teams.
