Sonnier is mentioned, as well as, us being a sure win for the most part.

Article just proves you earn your reputation. We've obviously earned ours.04-cheers
You got that right. No respect at all from the SMU fans. Sadly, that's probably what our image is elsewhere in Men's Basketball.

It will remain that way until we get to the NCAA and win a game against a name opponent like our ladies team did. But a one time shot won't do it. In order to gain respect a program has to win 20 or more games for a number of years and also get to the tournament and win some games.
Is that a realistic possibility? Possible, yes. Probable. You decide!03-banghead
When I read the Valley boards, most of them remember the 43 wins in 2 years.

It's really funny that some posters on the SMU board would look down their noses at a home and home with us. One points out that we were 301 in the RPI last year. True enough, but it was our worst year by far since the debacle of Sidney Moncrief ten years ago. The year before we were in the top 100. I bet SMU hasn't seen the top 100 in 20 years.

I keep a pretty close eye on college basketball and SMU has zero to brag about. They can tout that they were better than us last year, but they limped in with a final RPI of 212. And they haven't been to post-season play in a long, long time, just like us.

Now don't get me wrong. I like that we are starting a series like this. But it is amusing the inflated egos some fans have of their programs. I hope we kick their ass on their home floor. It would really make me feel good after last season, and be a great way to fire up the fan base for this season!

There are some on this board that have inflated egos about our coach and program.

Really? I haven't noticed anyone on this board tooting an over-inflated horn about either in recent memory.

What a joke. SMU fans looking down at our program. When is the last time they won 20 games? Maybe Daugherty can turn them around, but they've been a joke about as far back as I can remember.
It has been a long time since SMU basketball was a factor. I figure it will be a difficult win for us and we will be the definite underdogs, but SMU ain't exactly UCLA and their conference ain't exactly the ACC.

They just don't follow basketball much in Texas, especially this time of year.

What? How can fans of a program who hasn't been to the NCAA tournament in 20 years have inflated egos. Our egos have been beaten down so far that I wake up in the middle of the night hearing people down below me speaking Chinese! 04-cheers

Could be fun. They are close at hand, and a little smack talk here early on could make the series fun. Might be worth renewing.

There are some on this board who think Shields is the greatest thing since the telephone was invented, and they don't want to even consider a new coach. Win twenty games and they have orgasams almost as powerful as those experienced by the media in Arkansas covering the hogs.
