LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Powered by freshman Kelsey Hodges the North Texas soccer team remained unbeaten as they blasted Prairie View A&M 6-0 in the opening game of the Hotel Encanto Aggie Classic. Hodges notched her second hat trick of the season as the Mean Green improved to 3-0 for the third time in the last four years and the first time since 2008.

Hodges now has two hat tricks in three games and she is the second fastest freshman in school history to accomplish that feat. Only Christy Johnson, who scored five goals in each of her first two games as a freshman in 1997, recorded two hat tricks faster than Hodges as a freshman.

Hodges got things going in the 13th minute with her first goal as North Texas struck first to take a 1-0 lead. Julie Lackey eight minutes later found the net with her fourth goal of the season and it was 2-0 Mean Green.

The second half saw Hodges notch her second goal in the 49th minute as Michelle Young found Hodges alone in the middle of the box for a 3-0 lead. Hodges capped off her night in the 62nd minute as she buried a header off a free kick and it was 4-0.

Freshman Jordan Howell Jordan Howell recorded her first goal of the season in the 85th minute with a goal from the corner of the box.

Nikki Crocco finished the night of scoring for the Mean Green in the 90th minute with a breakaway goal to make it 6-0.

North Texas completely dominated the game as the outshot the Panthers 30-3.

Goalkeeper Mandy Hall went the distance to record her 18th career shutout. The shutout puts Hall alone atop the career shutout list all-time at North Texas as she is no longer tied with Briana Buchanan with 17.

The Mean Green squares off against Jacksonville State on Sunday afternoon in their final game of the tournament.
