So, as you all know I officially handed Red Riot off to new leadership as both me and Bleeds have now left college.
A big fear of mine was that Red Riot would just fall to the ground. However, a new group has taken it on and I actually believe that it will soar to greater heights than I ever thought possible :)
PSK, a greek organization if you didn't know, will be taking over Red Riot as part of their program. It is going to be inclusive to everyone still, but they are going to take the lead on getting Greeks more actively involved in NIU athletics, something that I know NIU marketing has been trying to tap into for YEARS.
This is going to be a great tool for them, and I think you'll start seeing a lot more participation from students at athletics events.
I'm not just talking basketball either. Volleyball and soccer are both in the mix as well. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
Anyway, thought I would update you. It seems to be very healthy and I know that this years e-board has really been putting a lot of work into it to make it into something students want.
I also know that PSK will start requiring their members to attend a certain amount of games, which is REALLY interesting. This could lead the way for other NIU greeks as well, and Greeks really kind of lead the NIU culture whether you like it or not.
so great news :)
