Any word on how the QB's are looking? Who's starting?

Sure is quiet in here.
Gillett appears to have been the most consistent during the pre season to date. Could be that both Gillett and Payne will play
I agree considering the season starts soon its quiet here. There's really been no camp news recently. Next week is prep week for the Army game. I'm looking forward to seeing the program guide to see the updated roster and depth charts. Next week I'd be happy to put my prediction for the Army EMU score this year. I also wonder how Benz, the true freshman is looking and which other true frosh look impressive.
Heard that Scott and Mitchell have been impressive and that both will be in the playing group. Speed package!
surprising that NO one, not a parent, not a sibling, not a lover, not a friend... posts much during fall camp.

This board is mostly anonymous so someone could create an account and post a little bit, no big secrets but at least something like, "the WRs are looking much better this year..." or "the DBs are healthy" or something which isn't giving away info which should be held close.

If any Army folks are looking for inside info, they sure as hell won't find it here.

Maybe someone should post that Axon is pushing Priest for the starting RB position. 05-nono

Let Army prepare for Axon. 03-lmfao

Or better yet, post that Schmitt was granted a 6th year last week and might start at QB. 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao 03-lmfao

OK, so here's what I know (it's not much). Gillette is looking very good and is a very good presence in the locker room. I expect he will start. The squad is healthy but for one running back who is banged up a bit, but will be fine before Army comes to town. O-Line has been shuffled but the seasoned players will start, they are playing very well as a unit and are far more organized than last year. I don't know as much about Defence; it seems that McCoy has not made his presence felt yet but perhaps it is still a little early for that. As for Thomas, this kid is the real deal. I heard a rumour that he laid out a WR cold in a practice. Coach Snow is well respected within the squad, he will make a huge difference. The Aussie punter is phenomenal, accuracy that is hard to believe. And the PK Fulkerson was very high on the recruiting list for Ohio State before he signed with EMU, this kid is very talented; I have not actually seen him kick but I expect good things.

Good stuff. 04-bow A lot.

Bad stuff. laying out your teammates. 04-chairshot

I did hear about the RB with the high ankle sprain.

I'll repeat a comment I've made on a lot of these boards:

The defensive coaching will be MUCH better then last year and if we can quantify coaching on one side of the ball into Ws, we can add a W or 2 Ws because of the defensive coaching.

I also expect that in time the talent on the defensive side of the ball to improve based on the reputation of the defensive coaches (translate into better recruiting).

I think players are being respectfully quiet and parents are following that respect so unfortunetly not much will be disclosed on this board. We will all experience the new EMU on September 4th. Can't wait!

I think coaches like the LACK of information getting out.

Fans on boards are just the opposite.

I've read on other boards that coaches are trying to 'muzzle' their players during the season.

"Loose lips sink ships'.

It is frustrating but let's hope the surprises this year are good ones!

So who are the starting O linemen? I assume Buche at LT, Sorgatz at LG, Davis at C, DeMaster at RG. Not sure about RT. Moore?

This would be the biggest OL EMU has had in a long time. Hope they can get the job done.

Will any of the underclassmen be in the mix on the OL?
I don't really see much difference between this year's offensive line and last years as I recall the starting linemen for the Army game last year were Fretz, Johnson, Demaster, Moore and Davis. Sorgatz replaced Moore I believe later.

In fact last year's Army game our offensive linemen should have easily overpowered Army's defensive line but it didn't go that way. Army has a different scheme but upfront I believe they started Hilton at 247, Ugenyl a 263, Gann at 270, McNary at 225. We won't be facing Ugenyl this year since he graduated. But more about the Army team and upcoming game in some later posts.

Most opponents look at our D line size and expect to overpower us. Few did last year.

The scheme is designed for smaller, quicker players and allows them to avoid huge O linemen rather than get squashed by them. Gann is one of only three defenders listed on our roster at above 250 pounds (and one of only three on the ENTIRE roster listed as 280 or more). The other two defenders who are above 250 are Gann's backups.

Sorgatz was a true freshman and Moore was playing his first D1 college game. I think the OL should be more stable this year. Unless a freshman or other newcomer earns a spot during practice the entire line should be veterans.

I would look for Buche, Sorgatz, Davis, DeMaster and Watman to start but shuffled from their positions last year. My guess is that no true freshmen will be first or second string because the returning players have shown significant improvement this spring and summer. Coach Anderson has them thinking as a unit.
