Warm Greetings fellow subjects of the Trojan Empire! I went to the Stephens Center today and looked in on the volleyball team's afternoon practice session. The team looked real sharp as a whole, with a couple of returning players showing great improvement over last season. Coaches Tod Bourdo and 22-year veteran Van Compton expect great things from this year's team, as they try their best to compete in the always wide open Sun Belt West division. However, all roads to the Sun Belt title must go through nationally-ranked FIU, which will travel to UALR October 22.

On the soccer front, UALR's team looked sharp in their practice at Burns Park. Prior to their season-opening match at Oral Roberts Friday night, the Trojans focused on their set plays and their defensive strategy. Despite a couple of sprains suffered by two players, UALR is ready to go for their first-ever winning season in their 24-year history (20th in Division I play).
