Just moved up here, anyone know of anything to do?

Specifically around the Arlington heights / wheeling area. I figure one of you meat heads has too be from around here.

I think I've had the pleasure of meeting you...you are high school/college age, right?
Hit Blackhawks Legends Day at Arlington today.

You can go to the race track and bet on the horses.

In a few months, the Wolves start playing.

Check out Durty Nellies in Palatine.
You can drive around during rush hour.
Wait in line at the DMV.
Hang out with me in my mom's basement.

Or you could drive out to DeKalb every night like I do! 02-13-banana
Buffalo Grove Theater on Lake Cook and Rt 83 has 1st run movies for only $5 all week long. Hard to beat that.
This is my native turf- but things have changed a little. Plenty of good food in the area. Pita Inn in Wheeling does a great lunch special. For $5 you will eat like a king.

I'll second Durty Nellies for sure.

Since your your mileage may vary, search Yelp and try places out without fear.
Papadoiux(sp) has great food. Great Jambalaya
the area around meacham, golf, and higgins, (in essence, woodfield mall) is no more than a 15 minute drive and has a ton of awesome restaurants.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys :)

If you have any more keep em coming! I need as much help as I can get learning what to do around here. I get pretty bored pretty easily. Need to find a place to meet some new people in the area.
fox & hound on roselle road just north of golf is a pretty cool bar.

Yeah, when I lived in Palatine I pretty much hunkered down in the apartment until at least 7 or 8 'cause you weren't going anywhere until then. Durty Nelly's, Gameworks, and Woodfield Mall were pretty much all I ever did up there before getting disgusted and moving back to DeKalb County where my commute is 1:10 but well worth it. Have fun!

I'll second Durty Nellies and Fox & Hound. Durty Nellies is great if you like seeing live bands and they have a LARGE beer selection. I've only eaten there a handfull of times but the food is very good as well. Kind of like a House of Blues vibe with a sit down restaurant in front and a separate concert hall around back. Fox & Hound is a great place to drink and hang out while watching sports. Big bar and a ton of TVs as well as pool tables, darts, etc. A place like that would rule in a college town.

If you are a drummer, The Drum Pad on Palatine Rd. in Palatine is awesome. Even if you're not you can go in there and just mess around with stuff. Fun way to kill some time. Schaumburg has a bunch of things to do and some great restaurants. Some good dance clubs around town. Downtown (by the train station) Arlington Heights has some good restaurants and good shopping. I'm not sure if it's there anymore (was in 2003 or so) but Idol's in A.H. is a fun bar to watch a game, shoot pool, and meet people. Wheeling has Bob Chinn's, Claim Jumper, Benihana (sp?), The Ram, Buca di Bepo, and a few others along Milwaukee.

As far as stuff to do your best bet is to find something that is going on in town. Sure there's Gameworks, the racetrack, movie theaters, etc but stuff like that gets old once you do it a few times. Or jump on 90 and go downtown.
Give it a few years and hopefully you will be ready to move back to DeKalb where someone can help you get a good paying job at NIU.

Just new to the north burbs :)

It sucks getting around here though. I'm not a big fan of driving drunk so I find myself in a bit of a tangle every time I want to go out here. Not like NIU where I can hop on the drunk bus or just walk there :( ... Everything is so spread out up here its crazy

Live close by there. If you go on other nights than tuesday it takes a nice chunk of change out of the wallet. Pretty expensive, nice bar and pool area.
