A wealthy guy using a tax loophole. Wow. Doesn't matter what party they are from, they all do it(and set the loopholes up in order to do it whether it be through their legislation or lobbyists lobbying for the legislation).

Btw, Newport RI is a very cool place. THere are MANY huge houses and LOTS of boats. Not to mention the International Tennis Hall of Fame is there(of course, I could care less about tennis-except for a few of the hot European women-but thought I would mention it is there). If you ever get the chance, I would suggest checking it out-especially when the "Tall Ships" are there.
Its only evil to be rich when you support the Republican Party. Otherwise, being a rich tax cheat is okay.

Doesn't Kerry know that the tax money he is skipping out on could help the welfare program in Massachusetts?

Oh, that's right, he's just another spineless "do as I say, not as I do" politician.

Could you imagine the outrage if this was a bank CEO or BP higher up? My god, the libs would be screaming bloody murder, and there would be angry protests outside the persons house with their little defenseless kids inside.

I NEVER said it was ok. I said the wealthy from both parties do it. Having said that, you guys on the right should be in awe of this. You guys support corporations moving to avoid paying taxes here. You support people moving to states without property taxes because it smart monetarily. But when one rich man(who just happens to be Democrat) uses a boat dock to avoid paying taxes, you guys go ape ****.

I used to live in Newport, R.I.

This was my house.

Okay, just kidding. I lived in Navy housing. It was much smaller.
But when one rich man(who just happens to be Democrat and who consistently votes for increasing taxes) uses a boat dock to avoid paying taxes, you guys go ape ****.

Most of the rich people who do these sorts of things vote for politicians who don't want to raise taxes. Kerry loves raising taxes, but yet, he does not like to pay them.

I am all for finding legal ways to avoid paying taxes, and I am sure that there are other yacht owners, who are not Democrat senators, who dock their vessels in Rhode Island rather than Massachusettes to avoid paying higher taxes, and I say more power to them. Vote with your feet, and whatever floats your boat. Maybe this will cause the Mass. government to get a clue, and start lowering their taxes.

But, as far as Kerry is concerned, he is a hypocrite. Kerry is among the first to complain about how the rich are not paying their fair share, and he feels paying maximum taxes is an act of patriotism. He feels your taxes are too low, and he tries everything he can to raise them.

I would actually respect John Kerry, if he would take to the floor of the Senate, and say something like, "You're darn right, I dock my boat in Rhode Island to avoid paying higher taxes, and I recommend others do the same. Massachusettes taxes are so high that they have reached the point of diminishing returns. This is what happens when Government gets too large."

I do not imagine he will do that any time soon.

Pretty much. I got no problem going through every loophole to avoid the ridiculous taxes... but I got a problem when a person who is part responsible for said taxes avoids paying them.

My brother in law was in the Coast Guard quite a number of years ago just west of Newport in Conneticut.
At least Kerry put his life on the line and served his country honorably in Vietnam which is in stark contrast to the previous administration and many chickenhawks 03-puke on the reich wing (Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Blitzer, Novak, Buchanon and the list goes on) who were able to find excuses or pay influential people on their draft board off to either avoid military service. Yet most of these want America involved in a 3 front war (Iraq, Afghanistan & Iran), the height of hypocrisy!

How many democrats who voted yes on the wars in congress and the senate actually serve in the military?

How about our current president who is keeping the war going? Why not mention him as well?

You democrats are all the same, going off subject and trying to point blame somewhere else.

And why do you mention people in the media? They had no say in the war, all they can do is voice their opinions. And because they never served they can't voice their opinion on the war? You're insane.

Couple final notes:

A.) No one here is disputing the fact that our politicians, on both sides, are spineless crooks.

B.) While I would prefer the president to have some sort of Military experience, it is stupid to expect all politicians to have a background in the Military. And if we use your logic, any politician who never served in the Military automatically can't vote on whether we should go to war? You are ******* nuts, considering the job of the ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE is to vote the way the people who elected him want to vote.

C.) Just because you didn't serve doesn't mean you can't voice an opinion on war. The Military is an occupation where people join voluntarily. They know what they are getting into. I have never served, but I sure as hell know that after 9-11, we had to go into Afghanistan and kill the jihadists who want all of us dead.

D.) If we used your logic, this world would be a whole lot dumber.

I am in a mental hospital! I'm getting excellent government assistance here. They even buy me blocks to play with. Thank you for your tax dollars!

No, I do not think that Iraq had much to do with 9/11 - directly. The Muslim terrorists did receive Iraq's support. Whether or not Iraq provided financial support, I am not so sure.

Iraq directly had nothing to do with 9/11, that is pretty much a fact.

However, as idiotic it is to think Iraq attacked us on 9/11, it is equally idiotic to think Iraq and Saddam were innocent bystanders in the whole situation.
