Memphis @ East Carolina
Memphis in a close one

UAB @ Georgia
Sorry for the negativity, but I don't think the upset is in the cards.

Marshall @ Kansas St

USF @ UCF

8 Texas @ Rice
Is it still a home game if most of the fans are cheering for the away team? This one will get ugly quick.

NC State @ Southern Miss
Southern Miss gets revenge after a close loss last year.

Grambling St @ Houston
C-USA's only undefeated team will get it's third win.

North Texas @ Tulsa

Tulane @ Miss St
I really really wish Tulane would get the shutout victory though.

Sam Houston St @ SMU

20-4 SU this season

Have to agree with all except NC State and USM. I imagine NC State wins--in a close one.

Would love to see TU win but don't expect it to happen. However, if MSU loses to Tulane to go 0-3, Croom is in extremely serious trouble.
7 pairs of ranked teams are going head to head this week.
Here are my predictions

11 Michigan @ 2 Notre Dame

17 Miami @ 12 Louisville

6 LSU @ 3 Auburn

15 Oklahoma @ 18 Oregon

24 Texas Tech @ 20 TCU

19 Nebraska @ 4 USC

7 Florida @ 13 Tennessee

Wow we only agree on 2 of the 7. The Miami-Louisville was the hardest game to call and is the one that worries me the most. Oklahoma-Oregon could easily go either way too.

I feel certain about Auburn (heh, unless they miss 5 FGs again) and Florida.

I also hope you are right about East Carolina winning their home opener, but my pick is still Memphis.
13-4 this week
33-8 on the season

Props to Southern Miss for a dominant win and to Tulane for an unexpected win. I also glad to see ECU win even if I didn't pick them. They've got a tough schedule coming up, even though it's at home.

I don't know what happened to Notre Dame today. Maybe I've been underrating Michigan. I should have known better than to pick Miami over Louisville.

or maybe youve been overrating notre dame...remember that they only beat 3 teams with a winning season last year. also remember ty willingham won his first 8 or 9 games (or whatever) at notre dame and was "the irish savior" before falling becoming mediocre...perhaps weis has the same fate

I never expected Notre Dame to go undefeated and to the title game. Its defense was way too suspect. The Irish better be ready next week or else Drew Stanton will pick apart that secondary like Chad Henne did.
You can give Notre Dame a little sympathy for its schedule since they have no conference to win. They must therefore play an all toughie schedule with no FIUs, Citadels, UL-Monroes, Buffaloes, or other cupcakes to play for breathers. Its only respites are when usually strong teams have an "off year" and turn into cupcakes unexpectedly. This does not appear to be one of those years so far.
Usually, like this year, a conference has only a few teams that really test a member. This year the SEC, for instance, has a two team race in the west with the rest battling to avoid 5th place, while the east has a three team race with the rest fighting to finish 4th. Only Miss.St. seems to have a slot locked up.
