OK, I'll admit it. I watched the special; but in my defense I was drinking! 03-drunk
Wow! We got it goin' on!

Lebron James, D Wade, Pat Riley, Chris Bosh all on one team.

Amazing !!!
I'd bet dollars to donuts that is Shaq is playing in the NBA next year it will be back in Miami. The Heat want another big body to bang with the likes of Dwight Howard and the other NBA big men, so Bosh can primarily play power forward and Shaq wants another ring after what Kobe said.

Aside from my feelings that Shaq will end up there, I really wonder what the Heat are going to do to fill out this roster. If all three took max deals after Chalmers, the Heat have like $2 million to sign one more player and then would have to fill out the roster with minimum players. Now all three players have said they'll take less, but how much less remains to be seen especially when it comes to Bosh who makes nowhere near the amount of money off the court that Lebron or Wade does.

As a Hawks fan, I usually root for individuals after the Hawks are done. I like Kobe, I like Lebron, I like CPIII, I like Dwight Howard, I like Wade. The NBA is a superstar league and I like that, but as much as I like superstars, I can't root for this super team, it would feel like rooting for the Yankees and while I don't fault Lebron for wanting to put him self in the best possible situation to win a championship, I think he really did Cleveland wrong, I'm not saying he had to stay, nor am I saying that I agree with how many Cleveland fans, or the the Cavs owner handled it, but the way Lebron did this was especially gutwrenching and I just don't think you do that to your hometown that you claim to love.

Personally, I'm not so sure this is going to work out, obviously a lot of it will depend on who the Heat fill out the roster with, but they're putting themselves in a precarious situation, if they lose one of the big three to injury, what are they going to have coming off the bench in support? Next year in the NBA is going to be very interesting, I may change my mind after I see who they fill out the roster with, but I don't think the Heat win the championship next year.

Really? Because that's pretty much what most of the analysts are saying at this point. I haven't heard too many that are willing to put them down as the favorites right now, in fact the only people I've seen marking them down as champions next year are vegas oddsmakers and Heat fans.

I just don't see it coming together in one season, the three will have to figure out how to share the ball and I don't know that they'll have the depth around them to really make the push in the end. The Lakers will be better rested as they'll have much better bench play and if the Heat don't find a true center, Bosh will be extremely worn down by the end.

It's not wishful thinking, because at the end of the day, the NBA is pretty far down on my list of sports I follow and it won't really affect me one way or the other if the Heat do win the championship next year, I just don't see it happening.

Vegas odds makers? You mean people who actually put their money where there mouth is?

p.s. The NBA is pretty far down on my list too; but it aint every day that you hit a trifecta like this.

Don't get me wrong, if the three were coming to Atlanta I'd be pretty pumped too.

As far as Vegas goes, there's some speculation that they've actually set the line too low from fear of how much money is going to come in on them from people who think they're a sure thing. They've actually set the line at 4-5, meaning a $100 bet pays $80. The Lakers are still the next team at 5-1.

I'm sticking with the NBA pundits here, I'll see who they fill their roster out with, but I just think it's going to take them more than a year to get it all figured out and the Lakers are still a really good team. Not to mention that the West has gotten weaker with the defections of Amare Stoudemire and Carlos Boozer. The Lakers way to the finals is much easier than the Heat's. I think the Lakers beat the Heat in the finals, with better team basketball and a more rested team.
If I could be the field vs. Heat for the championship I'd take it.

LeBron melted in the pressure of the playoffs this year with a team that had for the second time posted the best regular season record in the NBA.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Heat were able to win it this coming season. Look at the Celtics a couple of years ago. Almost same exact situation. The bench players won't matter because they'll either 1) be wide open and draining threes or 2) draw the defense and leave the stars to 1 on 1. The D league is packed with enough guys that can drain an open three. Think Steve Kerr was a fantastic player? Or how about BJ Armstrong? Point is, when you have THAT level of talent, all you need are supporting, role players. And didn't the three stars all play and practice together on the Olympic team? Maybe on two different Olypmic teams? Either way, they are at least somewhat familiar with each other and I don't think it'll take any time at all to gel. Vegas is scared and trying to ward everyone off betting them because they will come into the season as the favorites. Those odds will eventually come back down to earth.
Yes!!!! Amazing get by Pat Riley, as FIUFan said, hitting the trifecta. Udonis Haslem is back in, rumors are flying that Derek Fisher (UALR) wants in as well. Great day to be a Heat fan!
I don't like either team , but I would still have to take Kobe,Artest,Gasol,Odom,Bynum over LeBron,Wade,Bosh & co..

I know they still have a game to play...but think about what you are saying!

Lebron, Wade, and Bosh...this is what I used to do on NBA Live 08 - 09 on my PS3 for the Heat. Now its real!

I think the Lakers have an awesome team...but having those 3 on one team is incredible.

If you were to start a team on your own, which is the first player you take? Kobe? Ha! You know its Lebron! Second player? Toss up between Wade and Kobe...and you should pick Wade because of age.

Again...this is all coming from a Heat fan...so....you know.

Yeah if you were building a team around one player, and were given the option of Lebron versus Kobe, you'd be a fool to take Kobe, but it's because of his age, not because Lebron is better. If I could build a team around either player in their prime, with years ahead of them, I'm taking Kobe.

Though if you're really thinking about starting a real team today and thinking about the future of your franchise, I think an argument could be made for Kevin Durant or Derrick Rose.

It's gunna be Show Time every night in Miami for years to come. David Stern and the NBA are talking about taking this team Global...China, Africa, Europe, etc.

So you can rationalize and debate this until you're blue in the face...but at the end of the day, we've got the KING!

Rationalize? All I said was if I were picking between Kobe and Lebron, both in their prime, both with the same number of years ahead of them, I'd take Kobe.

I like Lebron, I'm not rooting for him anymore, as rooting for the Heat would be tantamount to rooting for the Yankees, but I still like the guy and will applaud him when the "king" finally gets a ring.

All that being said, he has a long way to go to equal what Kobe has accomplished, and fair or not, Lebron detractors will always say that he was never able to be "the man".
Heat = Yankees? Surely you jest.

The Heat's salary is the same as everybody else's.

Don't worry, if you change your mind down the road, there'll be room for you on this bandwagon. 04-cheers

Hey don't get me wrong, I applaud the Heat for being able to pull off these moves under a salary cap, but that doesn't mean that they don't have more in common than the Yankees than just about any other team in any salary capped sport.

Don't worry about holding my spot on that bandwagon, I really don't follow the NBA that much until the playoffs and am a Hawks fan first and foremost based on geography after that I usually pull for the Lakers because I've always liked Kobe and after that...I pull for exciting games and players that I like. It's going to be an exciting season in Miami, no doubt, but man is that going to be a rough place to be when the Heat get eliminated next year...
