8-4 sounds crazy before the season, but after 2 games, its not so crazy. After the Georgia game UAB plays Miss St.(0-2), Troy(1-1), and Memphis(1-1) all at home. The Rice game is away but they are (0-2). Marshall (1-1) and UTEP (1-1) are at home. SMU(0-2), S. Miss(1-1), UCF(1-1) are away. SMU lost to North Texas and are in ESPN's Bottom 10, and next in line are Miss. St's offence and Rice. If UAB stays healthy after the Georgia game, UAB could win 6 in a row. So here's how I think (and hope) UAB does the rest of the year.

Georgia (loss) UAB 1-2
Miss St. (win) UAB 2-2
Troy (win) UAB 3-2
Memphis (win) UAB 4-2
Rice (win) UAB 5-2
Marshall (win) UAB 6-2
SMU (win) UAB 7-2
UTEP (win) UAB 8-2
S. Miss (loss) UAB 8-3
UCF (loss) UAB 8-4

So you have us getting to the Champ game only to lose it and end up back in B'ham instead of Memphis?

Bah! What a downer!

I agree though that if we can beat Miss-$take (which I think for some reason will be a lot harder than it looks) and Troy I like our chances for ending up in the 2nd Annual Conference Champ Game.

As far as your regular season overall prediction goes I think you are spot on. However I am going to flip UTEP and USM (UTEP gets us this time, but we get USM ;-) ).

This is OUR YEAR! The eagles are going down in flames, and I have the tickets to witness it. 04-rock

I like your thinking...like Flying Mouse has intimated, this UAB team could very well stumble its way toward a winning season. The rest of C-USA has yet to have any team in either division that looks like it could run away with the league title.

I too am openly picking the Blazers to lose to USM...
If we would have gotten rid of Wayne "The Loose" Bolt a year earlier we would have had 7 or 8 wins last year. I will sip the Kool-Aid but I won't chug it just yet. Watson still has plenty of time to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We narrowly escaped disaster this past Saturday in a game that was bigger than people want to admit.

Troy is a toss up. UAB secondary better be ready.
MSU is a HUGE game for them. This could be the should MSU keep Croom game.
UTEP would be favored. They would rip our secondary right now.
SMU do I need to remind you about SMU. I do not care who they lose to.
Rice is MUCH improved. Ask UCLA.
Memphis do you not think that Memphis season would be made with a win over UAB.
USM - Do you think that C-USA would rather see USM UCF or UAB in the championship game. Do I really need to answer that question.
Marshall we had a lot more yards but they had more points and there special teams were better. Our special teams have not been special yet.

We could go 8-4 but do not count your chicken before they hatch.
UAB is the ONLY team in the nation that you literally have to take ONE GAME AT A TIME. They could beat UGA and have a losing season. Hard to believe but true. UAB plays better with no pressure and a ball control offense and a run stopping defense. Watson has done a great job so far
One game at a time. Teams records, especially now, don't matter but match-ups do. A lot can happen between games.

THIS IS THE WEEK OF POSITIVE THINKING!

WE WILL BEAT UGA!

GO BLAZERS!
We can if and and butt this to death but the fact of the matter is the best thing we have going for us is the defense is better than it was last year and we are playing to it.

Quote:SMU lost to North Texas and are in ESPN's Bottom 10,

That just means if we lose it will put more egg on our face. When we were shut out by ULL they were in the bootom 10. Bottom line is we can win every game on our schedule or we can lose every one. It will all boil down to coaching and catching a break here and there. Our coaching has been consistantly inconsistant and we will just have to ride the roller coaster and see what happens. By all rights we could have been 10-1 last year but we were not.
That's why the games are played on Saturday. . .records, standings, rankings etc don't mean 01-rivals come kickoff.

I think for some strange reason we will be in a bunch of close games all season and will be winning them. I think we will have a "Mike Anderson" type football season. Meaning, one night defense will be superb the next night offense will explode the next maybe special teams. No real superstars just a bunch of talent that at any given moment will burst onto the scene.

UAB over Georgia 27-21, be prepared for the unveiling of the air attack.

I will say 7-4 since WB has never won 8 games in his entire career in one season. With the depth we have at the lines of scrimmage on both offense and defense, we should go 10-2 with losses to Oklahoma and Georgia. 9-3 if I add Southern Miss. This team can beat every team in our conference....the question is will we.

+1 RB.

That means we will be a team.

Remember this is CWB disciplined team. Will win some that is not expected and lose some that is not expected. Hopefully this year the former will be greater.

I think the CIA has tampered with your Koolaid. You do realize your outcomes on the schedule you proposed have a Watson Brown coached team winning SEVEN in a row. We will drop one (at least) of the 3 games in the middle of that seven game stretch. Rice, Marshall and or SMU will be lost to a fluke or stupid play.
I must have been drunk, I didn't spell Birmingham correct. I thought the coaching for the ECU game was pretty good. It wasn't WB's fault for the 2 fumbles inside the 5 yard line. Its became norm for me to see delay of game, personal fouls, so I look past the penalties. After 2 games of good coaching (minus the infamous punt), and If the coaching stays consistant, UAB will win a bunch. Now pass me some more of that green stuff! 02-13-banana

Even if we won the championship game, we wouldn't be playing in Memphis. Liberty Bowl has first choice, but it does not have to be the champion. If UAB is bowl eligible, they will be confined to the Birmingham Bowl no matter how many wins they have.

I think that if the Liberty Bowl expects to maintain any credibility, it will take the champion, no matter how distasteful it may be to them.

In every interview I have heard, Liberty Bowl has stressed two things. They do not have to take the champion and they will take the team that makes them the most money.

I have also heard Liberty Bowl officials indicate several times in years past that it would be a disaster for them to have UAB in the Liberty Bowl.

They're not interested in credibility. They are in the bowl business.

I understand your doomsaying, Memphis, and know how close you are to the "situation" up there. But if Tulsa can go, then UAB can go...

Furthermore, I (and I expect most of you too) would unleash UNHOLY HELL if we were CC and didn't go. Nobody wants to see the kind of hell I would raise in such a circumstance. Trust me. :outraged:

EDIT: I should clarify, however, that there is a Looooooooooooong road to the conference champ and we have only taken our first step. We aren't anywhere close yet, but could be...maybe...possibly...
I sipped some Green Fluid this morning and I am hoping it wasnt anti freeze. . .but Blazer Aid.

Barring any significant injury or suspensions for foolish activity by players. . .8-4 one win over GA one loss to someone we should not lose to! The other two probably to Southern Misses and El Pasto. Preferably
a win over SM and UTEP but two losses to ??? Better yet no more losses!

Or, in the case of C-USA, Sundays, Thursdays, or rainy Wednesday nights. While we accuse the BCS schools of being prostitutes (or worse names), it seems to me that it is C-USA schools that are doing more bizarre things (Wednesday night games) for less money. I suppose one thing worse than being a prostitute is being a cheap one.

And, yes, I realize that Tulane is doing the same things for TV.
