The CA lists possible recruiting targets for the 2011 season. Good luck, Coach Pastner and staff!

Adonis Thomas (6-6, G/F, Memphis): In Germany right now competing for the U.S. under-17 team, Thomas is a super athlete and defender who won't play college basketball for very long if he refines his skill set. Lots of elite schools are recruiting Thomas, including Florida, North Carolina and Kentucky.

Cedrick McAfee (6-3, G, Memphis): How deep was Melrose last season? McAfee, ranked as the No. 56 player nationally by Rivals.com, played a limited role off the bench for Jermaine Johnson's state title team after transferring from Craigmont. McAfee is a big-time athlete with an improving stroke from the outside. Arkansas, Auburn and Cincinnati are among the schools involved.

Nino Johnson (6-7, F, Memphis): This is a huge month for Johnson, who has gotten positive reviews at camps and AAU events this summer after looking like more of a project at White Station last season. The quality of his offers will depend on how he plays in July. Regional schools, as well as Pittsburgh and Wake Forest, have shown interest recently.

Andre Hollins (6-2, G, Memphis): The Tigers have been there all along with Hollins, ranked 150th by Rivals. We'll see how hard Memphis pushes if the White Station guard makes a big splash this month. He could very well end up at Stanford, where he recently took a visit, though Ole Miss has been in hot pursuit as well.

Bobby Parks Jr. (6-4, G, Memphis): Son of the former Tiger great, Parks has reportedly had a nice spring. He seemed to have a difficult time finding a role at Melrose last season, so this month is crucial to get a good read on him. Virginia could be a factor here.

Octavious Ellis (6-8, F, Memphis): He's talented enough for Rivals to rank him 138th, but some questions remain about his ability to manage his emotions. A big summer could propel the Whitehaven High product into the conversation for Memphis and other top schools, though Auburn, Mississippi State and UTEP are interested.

Trevor Lacey (6-3, G, Huntsville, Ala.): One of the visitors for last year's Memphis Madness, Lacey has made several subsequent trips to campus and remains high on the Tigers' wish list. Rivals recently ranked him 39th overall. Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee have recruited Lacey hard; Kentucky could also make a push.

Ky Madden (6-4, G, Lepanto, Ark.): The 19th-ranked player according to Rivals, Madden could be special if he can refine his point guard skills. The fact that he lives within an hour of the Memphis campus puts the Tigers squarely in the mix. Others include Ole Miss, Arkansas, Baylor and Marquette.

Kedren Johnson (6-4, G, Lewisburg, Tenn.): A big-bodied, physical point, he recently narrowed his list to Memphis, Vanderbilt, Florida and Alabama. Johnson checks in at No. 79 on Rivals' rankings.

David Gardner (6-6, F, Okolona, Miss.): Not many people knew about him last summer, but the Tigers' coaching staff did. Gardner is a big-time shooter who is now up to No. 61 on the Rivals rankings, and the Tigers are in pursuit as well as the Mississippi schools, South Carolina and others. His hometown is just outside of Tupelo.

D'Angelo Harrison (6-3, G, Fort Bend, Texas): The Tigers probably won't make a huge splash in Texas until the 2012 class, but Harrison is one they have their eyes on. As with any player from that area, expect much of the Big 12 and perhaps some SEC schools to be involved.

Johnny O'Bryant (6-9, F, Cleveland, Miss.): It's hard to know where the Tigers stand, as O'Bryant still has a long list of schools that seems to change constantly. But he's a big, talented player who is worth the pursuit.

LaQuinton Ross (6-8, F, Jackson, Miss.): He was once regarded as the top player in this class, but injuries and other issues derailed him a bit. Rivals now ranks him 60th, but there's no denying his talent. Mississippi State, Syracuse, Baylor and others will figure prominently in the mix.

Wayne Martin (6-7, F, Jacksonville, Fla.): The Tigers' staff watched a lot of Martin last summer when he played with a Memphis AAU team. This three-star prospect is the son of former Arkansas and NFL player Wayne Martin.

Otto Porter (6-8, F, Sikeston, Mo.): Porter emerged last winter during the high school season, posting massive scoring and rebounding numbers, albeit against weak competition. He's slightly built, but his play landed him at the No. 93 spot on Rivals' list. Missouri, Iowa and others are in on Porter.
i want Adonis Thomas...Nino Johnson...Bobby Parks Jr...and LaQuinton Ross

wrap it up in a bow and call it a recruiting class!
Good read, thanks.
Nice write up.
6 of them are viable, the rest for a variety of reasons aren't.
Keith,

Any chance you might name names for the 6?
since we like to guess things on here I'd say the 6 might be Thomas, K Johnson, N Johnson, Lacey, Madden and Martin

I'm guessing you got 4 of them right.
All we can take is 4....
Ross and O'Bryant ain't happening. McAfee's summer coach told JP NOT to recruit him. Parks, Ellis and Porter aren't good enough. Yeah, that's a good read.
How should we read that as far as McAfee's recruitment is concerned? Is the summer coach handling everything? Please don't tell me he's going to be a Vol.

If UT gets McAfee to campus as well, will that affect Adonis decision? Considering that two of his teammates would be there...

I hope Parks, Jr improves because his Dad is one of my favorite Tigers and it would be cool seeing Junior in a Tiger uniform.

The possible targets, according to the article and after Keith's scrub, are:

Adonis Thomas (6-6, G/F, Memphis)
Nino Johnson (6-7, F, Memphis)
Andre Hollins (6-2, G, Memphis)
Trevor Lacey (6-3, G, Huntsville, Ala.)
Ky Madden (6-4, G, Lepanto, Ark.)
Kedren Johnson (6-4, G, Lewisburg, Tenn.)
David Gardner (6-6, F, Okolona, Miss.)
D'Angelo Harrison (6-3, G, Fort Bend, Texas)
Wayne Martin (6-7, F, Jacksonville, Fla.):
We didn't really start targeting CDR until after the Peach Jam, more guys will get some interest from Memphis once they are evaluated this month.

OK Keith, you perked my interest. Why would McAfee's summer coach say that about Memphis? After the summer, would he not be fair game? What does McAfee say about the coach's comment? Is it that the summer coach wants McAfee not to be distracted or is there more to this comment? Is it Coach Rhodes making these comments? Inquiring minds want to know.
I want Ky, he is one good baller. And his nickname could be...
Ky of the Tiger
