Akron's soccer stadium is currently being completely renovated from the ground up.
Previous capacity was around 2,500, but after this is complete in the next few months it could be as high as 4,000. Everything has been torn down and they started over completely from scratch. This is good (and much deserved) for Akron's men's soccer program, giving a perennial top-5 team a top-5 facility to play in. But I think where it will really help is the women's program, which doesn't have being a national powerhouse to sell recruits on.
It is being paid for almost completely with donations.
Here are the early renderings for the stadium. The design has changed some, but I can't find any new renderings that reflect that.
With this, the only athletic facilities on campus that haven't been re-done in the past several years are the baseball field and the JAR. The baseball field will be re-done after the soccer stadium is complete, as you can see in the renderings.
