Here we go again - for better or worse. Ignorance personified, but why not? It costs me nothing.

#6 East - Troy

WHAT I LIKE: 1. They have learned to win in the SBC. 2. Maestri knows how to get it done. 3. Three incoming jucos, and the last time Maestri brought in a big juco class, it was a great one. 4. Decent size up front, and Bernard Tombs makes baskets and rebounds pretty well.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE: 1. No starters returning. 2. No one returning who averaged over 7 ppg or 19 minutes last season.

Never count Maestri out. He has been at Troy a LONG time, and knows his business. However, the dearth of experience on this team will be hard to overcome.

Good assessment. But knowing their coaches history, I would bet they'll finish higher than #6. They play an up tempo game which is attractive to recruits, and they will score points. Whether or not they can outscore their opponents, that's another story.04-cheers

Well, I guess someone has to finish last. Troy is coming off 2 straight postseason appearances, so I have a feeling they will reload and be competitive. But, I agree at this point- who would you put behind them? Especially with FAU continuing to improve and FIU bringing in a ton of talent on paper.

I don't think we look good on paper this year.

And you say that every year too.

Yeah, but my vision gets worse every year, too.
Hope you don't mind, I linked this on the Sunbelt board.

I think you're 1 for 1 so far.

To my experience Juco's take a year to gel. So even if he brought three very good Jucos in this year Maestri could struggle.

You look up and down the East you see a LOT of players returning and a LOT of good incoming talent. Its going to be a LONG 8 months from January to September in Troy, AL.

Not a problem. Guesses are free of charge. And ignorant guesses are even cheaper than that.
Always love these. :D
Good job. I have a bad feeling MT will be #5 in the East.

We are looking forward to seeing what our UTEP transfer will do. Supposedly he was the best player on the team last year, when he sat out..... but we at MT have heard that before.

Need more UALR folks on the Belt board !

Interesting. We always hear the same thing about our transfers during the year they sit out. Maybe they simply play harder in practice because it's the only time they get to play.

Now that's a very interesting comment. And it's right on point. Every year that we have transfers, we are led to believe they'll be the greatest thing since sliced bread when the get on the floor next year. Then next year comes, and they're very average players in most cases. Has anyone ever considered that the reason they look so great in practice is they're practicing against "OUR TEAM"!03-banghead

And I mean that in the absolute sense. The same five players started all 33 games. They do not have a player returning who started even one game last year.
