You could have gotten out, some of you could have gotten into the Big East. Now look what you're dealing with.

Unbelievable. The five "leftovers" (KU, KSU, ISU, BU, Mizzou) agreed to sign over their share of CU/NU's buyout money to UT/OU/A&M.

Good lord. Bend over and take it with a smile KU, KSU, ISU, MU, and Baylor. This is what you chose.
Wow.... lets hope there is more details about this
They are very happy and glad to bend over and take this one. They were about to get religated to the MWC, they are super stoked to give these three their shares of the buyouts!
TT and OSU aren't mentioned. Maybe they just get their normal share.

They would have been in the Big East not the MWC.

B-12 still would have been preferable to them.

If the Big 12 was not an option then joining the MWC would have all but gauranteed the MWC (who would also have kept Utah) of a BCS AQ. Plus travel issues would have been better for them.

They are officially the Longhorns' b!tches.
Maybe all five feel confident that CU and NU have no intention of paying up the buyout.
And now they agreed to take at least 5 to 7 million less then Texas and that crew. They are at their mercy.

They wouldn't have been in the BE. That would be obvious and proactive which the BE isn't.

There are rumors that those two still aren't on-board.

TT's regents still have a meeting scheduled to discuss realignment.

This might not be quite over yet.

The hybrid nature of the Big East made it less attractive an option.

What if they are fed up with Texas' schenanigans, coupled with MWC possibly getting in their ear to come to their conference for a strong $$$ package? By the time leave the Big 12, the MCW would be BCS AQ.
If ever there was something that would make me "cut of my own nose to spite my face" in a business decision, this would be it. If I am running one of the "leftovers" I'd have a hard time not telling UT to enjoy life in the PAC, even if it meant I'd get less money in the long run.

At some point, you have to stand up for yourself. Just exactly what is it that UT could ask you for that you wouldn't give them? Your daughters?

It is my understanding that they are not taking less. The numbers listed include the new conference TV package, plus estimates of teams own television rights deals, including a school networks for Texas and Oklahoma. That's why the large differences in payouts, since Iowa State's local TV rights deal will obviously be worth less than say what Texas and a Longhorn Network would generate.

This money will come out of this year's and next year's payouts to both schools from the conference TV contracts and NCAA allotments. It's like taxes, it will never cross their palms and they'll have no say.
Texas Tech and Oklahoma State will sign off because they don't have a choice. Pac-10 never wanted them, they were the cost of adding UT, TAMU and OU.

MWC or CUSA would take them but what fool gives up $17 million in unequal sharing to get $3 million in even sharing?
Could you imagine if tech and osu arent onboard and told txas to F off. "we're going to the SEC" The p10 door closed and the the b12 is down to 8? ouch. Actually i take it back if that happened to BE might be doomed
Baylor, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State came to the realization that they are in a very, very weak position and Texas is not.
These schools did what they had to do to survive. I do not blame them. They probably did not like it but the alternative could have been much worse. Who knows where they may have ended up.
I am surprised that Don Beebe was able to convince Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma that they will make $20-25 million when the new TV deal is signed in a couple years. Good luck with that. I hope Fox and ESPN don't mind doubling the amount they are paying for their rights.
