They just had to get a shot of the Pig Dog in there. Having said that, it's A LOT better. Very nice indeed.
Seems like at least an improved effort.

I was just thinking on the way home, why doesn't NIU get some billboard space along the 88/290 corridor between Naperville and Chicago? Could include things like our former players (wolfe, english, turner), distance from chicago, best winning % of all Illinois FBS football programs since 2002 (NIU - .602, UI - .316, NW - .494), cost for season tickets/family packages etc.?

The reason is cost.

Have you done any feasability analysis to estimate what kind of money this could bring in? There is generally a cost for everything, but the benefit in increased season (and single game) tickets as well as publicity could outweigh the cost.

Our marketing department is always on the look out for the best ways to promote Huskie Athletics. We understand the elementary business principle of cost-benefit. We also recognize that while a billboard may excite our current base of loyal supporters, we do not believe, based on our target demographic and typical rate of response to event-specific billboard marketing, that it is an effective use of our advertising dollars.

Other advertising, such as newspapers and television, cost less, provide a greater rate of response, and allow us to more specifically target our message.

As always, we love our fans, and many of the ideas the Huskie Faithful come up with are fantastic (including many of those listed here on the board). Unfortunately, we simply do not have the resources (dollars or manpower) to implement all of them. Our marketing staff is hard at work developing plans, designing advertising, and selling, selling, selling tickets. You're welcome to come by the Convo after you get off work, and you'll see there are still many cars here in the parking lot working after hours to make Huskie Athletics great.

The people here are working their tails off to make NIU successful on and off the field. Some of the most die-hard Huskie fans around are in these offices. You can feel encouraged that we are doing our very best to sell more tickets, make a better gameday environments, and grow the Huskie Nation.
I have a marketing degree but have very little knowledge on outdoor advertising. I just figured the 88 corridor is exactly where NIU should be advertising. It does get congested and many people drive back and forth to work every day down that stretch. On my drive home I just noticed the worth of billboards...I see them literally every day, whether I want to or not. I don't know what the number is, but it takes seeing a marketing message several times (5+?) before it is worth a damn. Anyway, just a random thought I had driving home...seems like having a few badass red and black billboard (one eastbound, one westbound) would drill the message into people. I also didn't think billboards were overly expensive but I could very well be wrong, or my idea of expensive could be high.

Yes.
They played the "We are Huskies" song at the spring football game. It had a gangsta beat and was very cool. I still haven't been able to find it. Anyone?
