99 cent coneys
Posted by pcampbell June 8th, 2010, 5:42 pm

At Gold Star, tomorrow, Wednesday June 9 is Customer Appreciation Day. Coneys are $.99 all day.

I'd sooner pay full price at Skyline than even 25 cent coneys at Gold Star.

Ditto
I don't think I've eaten a brand of Cincinnati chili that I didn't like. Skyline, Goldstar, Empress, PRC, Price Hill, Camp Washington, Dixie, the stuff my grandma used to make, the stuff my high school cafeteria would sometimes serve, my brother's girlfriend even made some vegetarian style that I liked. And I'm generally a picky eater. In the blood, I guess.
I'm a hybrid since I prefer Skyline's 3-Ways and Goldstar's coneys.

Seals it for me. Off to the Goldstar drive thu in Mt. Washington for lunch.
I've always felt it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. I go to Skyline more often, because it seems most my friends swear by it, but I never have really found it any better than Gold Star.
Skyline gives me heartburn. Gold Star doesn't. Ergo sum.

Me too.

Although I prefer Skyline's 3-ways. But I prefer Gold Star's coneys. Go figure that one out.
we have mostly skylines up here. But geez, they can get expensive trying to fill my man sized appetite at times.

They should come out with a king size coney
I'm not sure if they still do, but Empress Chili on Rapid Run in Delhi has had .99 coneys everyday for quite some time (atleast up through mid-May).
For the record, they were still .99 at Delhi Empress yesterday.
I'm surprised this forum didnt start a chili war (there was a little between Gold Star/Skyline), but I was waiting for people to wade in with Camp Washington Chili, Price Hill Chili, Pleasant Run Chili, etc...

Didn't we do that like a year or 2 years ago? There was nothing else during the summer and people were posting their favorite: Place to eat; Cincinnati style chili; doubledeckers, etc.

A number of years ago when UC played in CUSA, they were scheduled to play the University of Houston. I bought tickets (at about $75 per ticket) for me, my son and his best friend. I never knew why they scheduled these events at a very expensive hotel in downtown Houston.......but they did.

The deal was that Skyline Chili and Graeter's Ice Cream would be served. When we arrived, we found out that the hotel had informed the UC people that only food purchased through the hotel could be served. They had to trash the hot dogs, Skyline chili and Graeter's Ice Cream. For our $75 per ticket, we got to eat local grocery store hot dogs with no Skyline chili. They did provide Blue Bell Ice Cream (which is a Texas favorite.........but it's not the same). Go figure.

Except for Yankee Stadium, it was the most expensive weiner I've ever seen.

I prefer Goldstars coneys but Skyline's 3-Ways are ALOT better.

Skyline's prices are out of control. A 4 Way and 2 Cheese Coneys is $10+
Their prices have gotten goofy. I take my kids there and with tip I can drop close to 35 bucks.

I find it very alarming that Hoops, Rath, and I have something in common. 03-nerner

And I agree that the prices are getting ridiculous. I'm starting to hit Gold Star more often because Skyline's prices are out of control.
Had goldstar for the first time in years. There coneys taste just like updog.
