For a long time I thought that soccer was for pansies. I had the privilege to travel around a bit once I got to college (25 countries on 4 continents). While traveling I learned a lot about the game and just how tough one has to be to play. For one, you have to be in impeccable shape, something I admire as a former football player, decathlete, and current rugby player. I've broken several bones, had muscle strains, and torn tendons due to rugby. I now know that soccer players get the very same injuries. I don't really consider it a girls anymore. I for one know that I wouldn't try to punk Didier Drogba to his face (6'1" 200 pounds with a bad temper).
Liking soccer is not about being different or being pretentiously European. It's about enjoying a sport that is every bit of athletic and physical as football.

Cute women with soccer legs are hot.
On top of that, one of the local older girls thought she would get a shot in and fouled her on a throw in.
Next throw in Mia receives and passes the ball and chickie tries some rough play again.
Mia slams the girl to the ground, picks her up by her pony tail and shorts, throws her off the field, tells her to get the f*#k out of her sight, and plays on.
And you gotta admit, Brandi Chastain's abs were nice.

I'm a basketball freak. Soccer is too slow compared to that, especially for someone that played, coached, and officiated for all but about 5 years of a senior citizen's life.

You mean it doesn't have the high scoring that you desire. Soccer is definitely not slow. It can be very low scoring, but not slow.

Hey, man. I am in the same boat on basketball. I love it. I play it all the time, the reason I like it better than football is because it is so much faster. I think part of the thought that soccer is so slow is because we have a hard time translating it to any American sport. There are different brands of soccer as well. For instance, my sister played club and high school ball and will be playing in college this fall. It is the closest thing any average person sees of soccer. The problem is that it is slow as all get out. Compared with the English brand, which is like lightning, it is boring. Italian soccer is slow as well, the only reason I like it is because I learned the game the most whilst in Italy. I admit, though, it is boring and slow.
