If that is true then its obvious PacTen has decided to do anything it takes to get Texas aboard

Well, almost anything . . . They won't take Baylor. That's not who they are.

Well, according to reports Baylor is in play for Pac 10 expansion to get Texas.

You might be right. But I found this nugget on twitter.

I'll believe it when I see it. I think they're just reacting to rumors about the Texas legislature. Baylor brings nothing & Colorado is a perfect fit. The Pac Ten really needs to put its foot down on this one.

I think right now the Pac 10 sees $$$$$$$$$$$$ and a chance to become the riches of all the BCS Conferences. If that means becoming Texas b!tches then so be it.

Chip Brown been spot on this from the beginning and we might know something sooner rather then later.

Frankly, the Longhorns might be the first ones to hope that the Pac Ten nixes Baylor.

If Baylor comes, that's sooooooooo F'N lame! It's like being on a team where the coaches son(Baylor) gets to start even though he sucks.

The problem is the politcos in Texas have even more power then Doss and the Texas gang. The politcos hold the power of money for the academics and they will do what they are told to do by them.
If they're willing to bend over to take Baylor I doubt that they would bump Texas Tech. Then again, Baylor has outstanding academics and a pretty solid all-around athletic program, but the academics are key.
If I'm the Pac 10 I know the B12 will be wanting to break up anyway once the B10 take Neb/Missouri. If I'm Pac 10 I say we'll take the 6 w/Colorado. If you want Baylor then forget it will just take Colorado and Utah. Have fun with your Big 9. Texas would be, ok ok ok no Baylor.

The problem with that is Texas, they are the new money machine in college athletics and if the Pac 10 comes back with that weak response then Texas will just back up and walk away laughing very loudly.

They would say go ahead and take Utah and Colorado over us and see how much money you would get out of a new TV deal without us.
I will only believe Baylor after the fact...i wonder what would happen if the pac 10 offered a public texas school for a spot 16 instead of baylor and col, like say uhouston... would the texas pols veto that move and still lobby for baylor? It makes more sense for the pac 10 to just jump to 18 and invite baylor, colorado and utah if that's the road they want to take. I could see where utexas wants baylor's vote to be on equal footing with the 4 cal school's in a pac 10. Yet, leaving col, kan, ksu out there, pretty much makes the mwc a bcs league if they all go there. As for neb, i can't see how in the world they let the big 12 blow up without a big 10 invite, so they need to know the big 10 moves asap...if the big 10 refuses to offer them ,than neb needs to forget the big 10. Thus, the chain reaction is ND will once again get the big 10 phone call and what the irish do set off the reactions.

This
Plus.. their "walk away laughing very loudly" will include a loud... "oooh... lets see what the SEC has to offer" ... even if its just a bluff to get the PAC-10 to meet their demands

This was from Chip Brown Twitter:

Another athletic director tells Orangebloods.com Big Ten trying to work things out with Notre Dame before addressing Nebraska or Missouri.

Baylor has 15 of 180 votes....not exactly a supermajority

...which brings us back to the (multi-)million dollar question: Does Texas really want this Pac 10/Big 12 hybrid, or it is just a bluff to keep Nebraska in the Big 12?

As the others have alluded to, UT is the prize and could survive as an Independent if it had to. They'll take their Big 9, add 3 more, and keep on keepin' on if that's what they prefer to the Pac 10 deal.
So the clock is on the irish. OF course, its possible the big 10 isn't sold on neb no matter what the irish do but i think the window on the big 10 ever getting neb into their league = the big 12 countdown clock, neb will either need to get an big 10 invite soon or they will re-commit to the big 12 for the long haul. It does seem the big 12 could care less about missouri, so the big 10 could always hit them up + i'm not sure what the pac 10 would do if texas pack turns them down, do they than offer colorado and utah? and settle for a 12 team set up. I guess texas is cool worse case with the 10 team pack of big 12 school's, everybody but mo + col to be there league, than add 2 replacements.
