Saw this on the WAC Board:

Public schools competing in the Mountain West and Western Athletic conferences shell out an average of $1,177 and $718 per student, respectively, to subsidize their athletic programs, among the costliest subsidies in the NCAA's 120-school Football Bowl Subdivision, according to a new report.

The Sun Belt pays the least of all the Non-BCS conferences... that's pretty good.

In the West everything is so spread out; lots of miles and lots of travel expenses for men's tennis, women's BB, etc. The more geographically compact the SBC becomes . . . the better IMHO. The MAC is a bus league and that is not a bad thing!
