Quote:"This is all about dollars," said Gary Sherrer, vice chairman of the Kansas Board of Regents. "Frankly, I think some of those institutions should be embarrassed that that is the message they are delivering. It says we'll do anything for a buck, and when you send that message to the students, why are we surprised that they do things that we don't approve of to get a buck."

And Kansas would be first in line to get a seat on the expansion Bus

Really? So where was he when the Big 8 goobled up the old SWC. Just mad that his school is not being invited right now.

I think we have a winner
Welcome to the real world son, where the Big Boys play ball.
By the way, the report that the Kansas officials were in a panic seems legit. And there are actually people on this board that say Kansas wouldn't dare join the Big East!?
People are freaking out (Kansas Fans), because it appears that Kansas and KSU are attached at the hip.

Another bit of speculation Perkins addressed Friday afternoon involved KU’s connection to Kansas State, something many have wondered about considering the fact that both schools could be forced to find a new conference to call home in the near future if the Rivals.com report turns out to be true.

“This is something that K-State and we have spent considerable time working on,” Perkins said. “And I know we both look forward to being together for a long time.”

wow.....whoever wrote that article/report threw the four Big 12 left-behinds under the bus.
UC, UofL, and USF fans better pay close attention to how this goes down in The Big 12. It could be a forewarning of what will happen when our conference brothers shuffle off to The Big 11 and ACC after refusing to improve The Big East. Those that think The Big East is safe are fooling themselves.

That was hard to read.

Is the reality of the world we live in. Those that move up feel great about the move, those left behind thinks it stinks.
Im sure many CUSA schools feel the same about USF,UL and UC when we left for greener pastures.

Agreed. Any school in the Big East would stab another in the back if it improves it's position.

Everybody would stab each other in the back to improve their situations. There are rumors that Tennessee is interested in the Big Ten so nobody is save from the shiv.

It is funny that guys who get all ethical and on the moral high horse are invariably the ones being left out or left behind.

FWIW and this probably deserves its own thread, the Kansas BOR said KU and KSU are joined at the hip in this thing per phog.net. Kansas to the PAC10 or B10 is a non-starter given this revelation. We need to be gearing up for a split and sweet talking Kansas as much as humanly possible.

Louisville is in a better position than anyone in this league. The Big East is fine. There is chaos in the B12. If Colorado gets dumped for Baylor what do you think happens to them? Mizzo and Nebraska are going to the B10 for sure if this happens. The latest B10 rumors have more to do with Vandy and Maryland than they do with Syracuse or Pitt.

I don't think it would be surprising at all to see the B10 take maybe Rutgers then snack on the ACC. If the SEC does the same in regards to the ACC and the Big East figures out that it has leverage it becomes the survivor. "Fooling ourselves" went out the window last Thursday. In light of the chaos in the west everything I've proposed is entirley plausable.

I agree. That might be why the ACC was so quick to try and lock up it's television deal, to stop the Big Ten from grabbing Maryland, and to hold off the SEC.

I think Louisville and West Virginia are the two best overall athletic programs in the Big East right now, but Rutgers is probably in the best position of anyone in the league.

And that says as much about the state of college athletics today as needs to be said.

Cheers,
Neil

we can all start rumors; if it wasn't for rumors, there wouldn't be 50 thousand posts in this forum
