Where is the best place in Memphis to watch? I'm looking to get a bunch of guys together who know nothing about soccer, and I want it to be electric. Gonna be tough to beat, but this place has to be better than my man cave 04-cheers

I don't know about Memphis but I will be driving up to Nashville to watch with some EPL/college buddies. I will be watching the Italian matches with some friends who grew up in Italy. Try some pubs? BWW on Highland might be promising.

Celtic Crossing in Cooper Young is the location with the most dedicated group of soccer fanatics. They'll probably open early and show every match. I also heard that Central BBQ on Summer will be hosting a throw-down during the USA - England match.
Celtic Crossing will probably be the best place.
I was at Celtic for a WC game in 2006.....Go there. It's a lot of fun.

Is that one of the places you have to be 21 or over to get in? I'd like to go.

Depends. You may want to call and check. After a certain time you do have to be 21.
I know Celtic is probably the most soccer friendly bar in the city but 2 things: 1) That means it will be absolutely packed and 2) I don't think they have the best TVs in that bar, but I may be wrong.

Anyway, we'll have a good group of guys going to watch the game. Did anyone go to bars in 2006? We're looking for a good atmosphere but nothing too crazy. Probably something in East Memphis like Dan McGuinness, Brookhaven, or Fox and Hound. Any other suggestions?
Dan McGuiness pays attention to soccer.
At least they have in the past.

Celtic is most fun when it's packed with loud soccer fans. Then you tend not to notice how truly crappy the TVs really are.

Exactly. For the casual fan (me), Celtic is the best. If you actually want to see and follow the match as you might a Tiger basketball game, you may want the better TVs. Celtic gets a large population of Irish and German soccer nuts for all big matches. It's a really fun experience.

As mentioned, the TVs there are pretty lousy, at least from what I remember from 2006. I went there to watch US v. Czech and US v Ghana, and I had a hard time actually seeing the game. I'm all about a great atmosphere, but watching the game is still the most important thing for me.
Those 10:00am games will be a lot fun at a bar.

The only decision for me will be if Im going to get there early and start drinking or just still be there from the night before.
Apparently Local Gastropub (where Sauces used to be) downtown will be open for every game, with drink specials.
If any of yall are in Austin, come down to the official US Soccer pub of Austin, Fado's at 4th and Lavaca.
We need a US Soccer pub in Memphis. Wonder who we could get to sign up?
If you're in Nashville next Saturday for the US-England Game, take Exit 201 on I-40 and go to Buffalo Wild Wings (Charlotte Ave. in Nashville West Shopping Center).

The restaurant is donating 20% of it's non-alcoholic sales to my son's Harpeth Youth Soccer Assn/Harpeth Futbol Club to raise money for flood relief. Our complex suffered a ton of damage and lost or damaged turf equipment and supplies in the May 1-2 Nashville Flood.

Come join us and wear your red, white and blue USMIT gear! USA!! USA!! USA!!!!

I believe they have to pay some money to USSoccer and have a petition from a certain number of USSoccerSC members. I think.
