That article referred mostly to FBS teams and a private D-III school.

Did you miss the part about participation being UP in Ohio HS football? Michigan still has around 620 HS playing football, one of the highest numbers in the nation.

Declining population and thus enrollment and the other problems discussed are obvious facts of life in this part of the country.

But you need to work a little harder at making the connection-explaining how there aren't enough MAC-level players in Michigan.
