Maradonna Story

I'm now hoping that Argentina gets no where near winning the cup.03-puke
Argentina will get nowhere near the finals.
I'd be surprised if Argentina reaches the final 8 teams. You would think a monkey could coach that team with Messi, Tevez, Milito, and the rest of the talent they have. Heck, those 3 forwards I mentioned may be the best combo in the world, yet they could barely qualify.

Maradona has screwed them up big time.
Well, no one ever claimed he was a smart man, just a good soccer player. Even his own country wants him out as a coach.
There's an article about Messi (actually a story with just a handful of Messi quotes because he declined to talk about Maradonna and the interviewer's time got slashed from 30 minutes to 15 minutes because of the subject) in the new SI. According to the story, Maradonna (1)has never been any kind of mentor to Messi (2)is such a bad coach veteran players took to coaching themselves in the locker room during qualifying and (3)had a lackey demand $126,000 cash from SI for an interview.

But I hope he got that upscale toilet he demanded in South Africa last week.
Hell, Riquelme wont even play for him.
I kinda hope they don't make it out of the Group Stage

too talented not to make it out of the group stage.
Why run naked? Maradona's short comings have been blatant enough for nearly three decades. Great soccer player, but the epitome of what's ugly about the sport, he and the Argentine side deserve one another.

Diego Maradona has and always been for himself and no one else in the end. Are you surprised that he would do such a silly thing in the center of Buenos Aires? He was a poor kid from the barrio, who made himself rich and famous despite all the obstacles in his life.
Do you think he makes them practice "The hand of God"?

I played for some coaches that had you practice things like that.
I bet he jerks off to that video every night before bed.

Not surprised in the least. If you're giving accolades to a drug snorting narcissist, have at it. Pass, here.

Yes he is all at you had said before, QuitoTiger. Is not the current CEO of the Charlotte Bobcats and former Basketball HOF Michael Jordan a competitive jerk and a person who cannot let go out the past even at his HOF speech. But he still won six championships for the Chicago Bulls in the end. I do not honor him for what he did or think anything he did to get on the soccer pitch is okay. He was one of the better soccer players of his generation. Their is their no such thing a pure and honest sport. The day all of us realize it is sports entertainment would be a better day for many fans all around the world.

Michael Jordan is competitive....Maradona is batshit crazy and in no way should be coaching a national side.
I see Carlos Tevez having the potential to turning into a Maradona type lifestyle. Both from very very poor parts of BA. I learned about where Tevez grew up when I went on a mission trip there last year. It's the poorest of the poor and the roughest of the rough. What does a young man do with loads of money after having never had such? You go crazy, and then your life spirals out of control as your young mans habit's become and older man's addictions.

Regardless Argentina doesn't have a shot (sorry, handofgodMaradona).

Even if the Ivory Coast is one of the darkhouse pick to win the Woirld Cup and was in the same group as Argentina's MNT in the end, los gauchos will still make it out on the first round quite easily. To win the World Cup in South Africa takes some luck and some hard work, and they all the talent to make it in the end. Great talent can even overcome some bad coaching as well.
Not to nitpick, but there is no way that Nigeria wins the world cup. I actually think that the home continent advantage will come to nothing this WC. SA is really bad, Cote d'Ivorie is in the group of death, Cameroon is in disarray, Ghana is good but in a tough group, and Algeria is Algeria.

Out of those teams, Cote d'Ivorie and Cameroon are the best bets to make any damage.

Ah but after the brilliant "32 teams 1 goal" that ESPN decided to throw at us, you'd think that Algeria was a contender. Thanks, dramatic voice guy from "Gladiator" and "Mutiny on the Bounty".
