Quote:PLAYER OF THE DECADE: Western Michigan G David Kool, 2006-10. Kool was among the MAC's best in each of his four seasons. He was freshman of the year in 2006-07, a first-team all-conference pick his last three seasons and MAC player of the year as a senior. He led the conference in scoring each of his last two seasons while averaging 17.0 points for his career. Alas, he never played in the postseason.
Awesome stuff!
WMU has the MAC player of the decade and couldnt get into any post season tournaments during his tenure.A negative reflection on coaching not the player.

I'm thrilled that DK won another individual award but I'm kind of surprised that team performance and post season weren't part of the selection criteria. What Chris Kaman did in 3 years at CMU was worth MAC player of the decade consideration, especially considering that he left a year early and in his junior year he averaged 22+ PPG and 12+ RPG and led his CMU squad to a first round NCAA tourney victory. You could also make an argument for Ben Reed also who was MAC freshman of the year and had four solid years plus his teams went to the post season 3 times. Ball State had some good squads in the early part of the decade and Akron and Kent dominated the later part of the decade. That said DK's individual accomplishments definitely outshine any other individuals I can think of (Mike Williams, Antonio Gates, Keith McLeod).
Yeah, Fire Hawk. You should see his wedding pictures.
