The French lost. I'll celebrate that with Puebla.

NOT in Arizona!
my wife (half lebanese, half mexican) knows a thing or two about cinco de mayo, and trust me squid, american's care ... why? because we are the ones that hype this "supposedly mexican holiday" ... in fact, it isn't even Mexico's patriotic/independence day (that's sometime in september) ... so yea, american's care ... just another day to drink tequila, margaritas, and break pinantas ...

I do that on a regular basis anyways, minus the pinantas.
I never understood why a holiday that celebrates a Mexican battle victory over the French, in a war the Mexicans eventually lost, is somehow celebrated by Americans (more than Mexicans?) by going to bars and drinking.

Sorta like St. Paddy's Day, I suppose. Oh well, at least we don't have to dye the beer green to drink it.

It is just another manufactured "holiday" designed to drum up business and provide an excuse to drink.
NTR

It's like all these holidays so you buy Hallmark cards.
Are the goons who whined in the 420 threads going to come in here and ***** about ****?
I'm all for as many holidays as possible. Masks the alcoholism better.

I'm still hung over from Star Wars Day (5/4). ;-)
Darn good excuse to go to Las Tortugas Deli Mexicana!

And of course everyone is getting ready for "Consecutive ascending numbers day" (5/6) otherwise known as "Thirsty Thursday".
