Our big girl, Gizmo (16 yr old rat terrier) will be crossing over this afternoon, if the vet can make it over. She has been suffering from acute renal failure and congestive heart failure. She will always be our big girl. I would greatly appreciate any prayers you could possibly offer for her and us. Thank you!

Monica, I am so so sorry but know you are doing the right thing. Love, prayers and hugs for you today.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Sending prayers your way right now!
Gizmo has crossed. It was the hardest thing we have ever had to do. I just wanted to scream in the middle of it, "No, stop!" She went so peacefully! Our vets and gang are the best ever! My hub and I are really struggling to keep it together, though.

Thank you so much for the prayers & poem! You know, MissJ, the thought of the rainbow bridge is one of the things that helps the hub and I get through all of this. Y'all are so sweet!

You and the hub will see Gizmo again, I promise.
Prayers for you all. Know you did the last, kindest thing you could have done for Gizmo. You will see her on the other side. She will run to greet you.
