Anybody watching the Lakers-Thunder game? They just brought up on the screen decibel comparisons and the Thunder Stadium was at 112. I wonder how many decibels Bartow Arena gets to in games such as Memphis 2008. That was one of the loudest places (not just sports arenas) I've ever been in... period!
It would be cool to add some sort of decibel meter to the Gene Screen, whether as a digital on-screen graphic or otherwise.
That'd be pretty cool, buy a set-up that measures the decibles and put a sensor down near the court where most of the sound would be directed. In the immortal words of SRV, "if the house is a rockin', don't bother knockin just come on in."
Didn't Auburn's football scoreboard have such a device? If I remember correctly, they had two tigers on either side of the scoreboard that lit up when it was loud enough.

A dragon with the flames coming out would be really cool. The flames get brighter as it gets louder! ! ! !

+1 I like it or the flames get longer.

...I could make one...
The mics are not that expensive, and I've programmed for sensors before. Let me know what software they use to run the jumbotron (probably some sort of "Powerpoint-esque" software) and I could make a macro that measures the sound from the sensor and responds with the appropriate images.

That's cool.
I hope we can add something like this to our video boards. Sam Miller said that our boards are state of the art and are capable of doing whatever we want them to do. Last year was a learning year for him and the staff to know how to work everything. I think you'll see some new things on the score board next season.
Well Sam hasn't asked me yet (I know he watches this board and knows who I am), so I hope they've got the decibel meter installed already 05-stirthepot

But I'm serious. I can take on an extra project this summer for alma mater if asked. Compared to asking ISP to do it I'd be cheap.
