Pitt has been off since last weekend, but in other mid-week action Louisville beat #26 Kentucky in a wild game 10-9.

UConn beat #215 Bryant but saw the winning streak end with a bad loss to #244 Central Conn St., while Rutgers dropped a game to #225 Monmouth.

Right now the league has 2 NCAA locks and Pitt is looking good as a third heading into a big weekend for them. Rutgers needs a good performance this weekend against the Cards to stay in the discussion.

#22 UConn 13-2, 34-8
#37 Pitt 12-3, 30-10
#5 Louisville 11-4, 33-7
#57 Rutgers 10-5, 21-17
South Florida 10-5, 19-23
St John's 10-5, 27-12
Notre Dame 7-8, 19-22
Cincy 5-10, 20-20
WVU 3-12, 18-23

The Pitt-UConn series doesn't start until Saturday. Schedule calls for a double-header on Saturday (3 PM & 6 PM) and a finale on Sunday at noon.
Thank goodness WVU's baseball season is almost over. Outside of SS Jedd Gyorko, nobody on this team has played at a consistently high level, which is why the Mountaineers rest near the bottom of the conference standings...

Cincinnati is expecting 3-5 inches of rain this weekend. If they don't play two tonight, I'll be surprised if they get all of the games in.

No sooner had I added that - I just checked gobearcats.com and that is exactly what they are doing.

CINCINNATI – Due to the weekend forecast, the University of Cincinnati baseball team has adjusted its weekend schedule against West Virginia University. The Bearcats and the Mountaineers will now play a doubleheader on Friday, April 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The final game of the series is set to begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, but could be adjusted based upon the weather.

Game 2 of Friday’s doubleheader is scheduled to begin approximately 30 minutes following the completion of Game 1

The Bearcats enter the weekend with a 20-20 overall record and a 5-10 BIG EAST mark, while the Mountaineers are 18-23 overall and 3-12 in the BIG EAST.

I doubt they'll get Saturday's game in, unless the forecast there is different than it is here in east Tennessee. It's supposed to be thunderstorms all day Saturday, and Sunday's outlook isn't much better...

Let's play three tonight! And end about 2 or 3 in the morning.
That just might beat the rain if they did that...
Louisville and Rutgers are playing two today as well. It's 1-1 after 5 innings in the opener.
Game 1: UofL 5 - Rutgers 3.
Game 2: starts soon (due to rain prospect tomorrow)
Now we just need UConn and Pitt to lose a couple.
Today's winners:
UofL sweeps a doubleheader over Rutgers
Cincinnati sweeps a doubleheader over WVU
Seton Hall over South Florida
Villanova over Georgetown
Notre Dame over St John's

UConn 13-2, 34-8
Pitt 12-3, 30-10
Louisville 13-4, 35-7
St John's 10-6, 27-13
South Florida 10-6, 19-24
Rutgers 10-7, 21-19
Notre Dame 8-8, 20-22
Cincy 7-10, 22-20
Seton Hall 5-11, 15-22-1
Villanova 4-12, 23-16
WVU 3-14, 18-25
GTown 2-14, 17-23

UConn & Pitt have a doubleheader tomorrow while they just try to avoid the oncoming floods in Louisville & Cincinnati before finishing their series on Sunday.
Rutgers @ UofL
According to projections UofL, UConn & Pitt will all make the tournament. UofL as the overall #7 seed, UConn and Pitt as regional #2's. That is a good showing for the conference if it accutally plays out that way.

On a side note, a couple of teams of interest to me Western Kentucky (my brother and nephew's school) and Liberty (my school) are also projected to make it in. The Hilltoppers have lost twice to UofL this year but are very tough and the Flames are second in their conference to Coastal Carolina who is ranked #6 in the nation.

Rutgers is on the bubble, so to say. So are the UK Mildcats (boo hiss).
I just checked today's scores and Louisville leads Rutgers by 3 TD's and 3 extra points right now, 24-3.
Today's winners:
Cincinnati over WVU
South Florida over Seton Hall
Georgetown over Villanova
St John's over Notre Dame

UConn and Pitt split a doubleheader- The Panthers get a big 13-4 win in the 2nd game to close the Huskies' conference lead.

UofL over Rutgers- 1B Andrew Clark hit a 3-run homer and grand slam (7 RBI's) in the 1st inning alone. The Cards led 24-3 after 5 innings and coasted to a 24-6 win.

UConn 14-3, 35-9
Louisville 14-4, 36-7
Pitt 13-4, 31-11
St John's 11-6, 28-13
South Florida 11-6, 20-24
Rutgers 10-8, 21-20
Notre Dame 8-9, 20-23
Cincy 8-10, 23-20
Seton Hall 5-12, 15-23-1
Villanova 4-13, 23-17
GTown 3-14, 18-23
WVU 3-15, 18-26

WVU is really struggling this year. Since winning their first series over Seton Hall, they are 1-14 in league play.

It's really a 3 team race after this weekend. UofL, UConn, and Pitt are NCAA teams and no one else is making it unless they win the automatic bid. Those three teams are a combined 33-3 against the rest of the league.
Bulls win sunday and are now 12-6 in big East play. Not agood year for Bulls 21-24 over all
Today's winners:
South Florida over Seton Hall
Villanova over Georgetown
St John's over Notre Dame

UConn and Pitt were rained out, so they will end the year with 1 game less than other teams. This could end up playing a factor in the regular season race, as they cannot tie with Louisville now.

UConn 14-3
Louisville 14-4
Pitt 13-4
St John's 12-6
South Florida 12-6
Rutgers 10-8
Notre Dame 8-10
Cincy 8-10
Seton Hall 5-13
Villanova 5-13
GTown 3-15
WVU 3-15
