The official announcement was made today to add more possible MAC bowl games. It's a little confusing because a lot of stuff has to happen, but the just of it is that there are an awful lot of bowl games an it's hard for the SEC to send 9 teams bowling each year.

03-cloud9 Remember when Biggers threw that touchdown to Simmons in Toronto?03-cloud9 I thought for sure that Simmons was going to get injured after that play...cleats slipping on cement, the net going up for the extra point attempt...

Simmons HAS to catch on in the NFL!! I'm thinking about his highlights against Illinois ALONE, and he did that week in and week out!!! Come on!!03-banghead

That's entirely up to Jamarko. Showing up to his pro-day overweight is NOT a good sign. He's lucky to get a shot at TE, even though New Orleans already has 5 of them.

I am sure he dropped 15 #'S or so. Give the kid a break. What 2 months removed from foot surgery, 7-8 months after back surgery!

Agree.
That's why I say it's entirely up to him. I hope he does very well, I think it was shame he didn't get drafted last year.
Way to hijack the thread, guys. Isn't there a Simmons to NFL one already?
If the MAC wants to be taken seriously as a football conference, we've got to start winning bowl games. Even the ones we aren't supposed to win. Making it is nice, winning them will give us legitimacy.

So...how does a conference struggling to get talent over the "Big Boys" beat them in the biggest game of the year?
1973 Tangerine Bowl: Miami OH 16, Florida 7

1974 Tangerine Bowl: Miami OH 21, Georgia 10

1975 Tangerine Bowl: Miami OH 20, South Carolina 7

For some strange reason, Tangerine (later Citrus) Bowl dropped MAC after '75 game.
Awh thats cute. Did they use "Tangerine" because it always had one "small" school in it? Once they dropped the MAC and became "big time" they had to change it to the bigger version of a Tangerine of course.

That is a long time ago. We (the MAC) dropped all bowl games last year.
Nothing more annoying then bringing up ancient history to prove that our conference can hang with the "big boys" ......

I could care less how dominant we were 40 years ago. What about now?

Teams that have had Div. 1 football teams for 5 years are beating us up. I don't need us to contend for national championships but to keep heading in an upward direction and improving would be a start. It sickens me to watch the MWC and WAC leap above us while we struggle to compete with the Sun Belt.

Everytime we take a step forward we take a step back elsewhere.

Didn't central win their game last year?
Two points: First, can you see even best team in MAC beating any of those three SEC teams now?

Secondly, the football schools at top of food chain (BCS) are not going to do anything to help MAC close the gap, which obviously has widened since that "ancient history."

BTW - that's when I played, Windy - which makes YOU annoying to me.
