The guy and his staff fly around the country, he's in Dallas and Chicago and this goes on and on and then LOI day comes and he can't even get it together to announce a class and have signed LOIs. We were the only MAC team NOT to sign at least one person to the program last fall. His staff and him have had since last spring to evaluate 2010 talent. We have a coach who played in Lansing but we don't get any Div I recruits out of Lansing, we have a coach with high school ties in Illinois who has come up with busts for EMU and I could on. Michigan Div II schools love EMU because we don't recruit in Michigan or at least very well. For a guy who loves EMU he doesn't do a very good job of selling the school to recruits despite excellent facilities. I certainly would hope our coaching staff could find three Div I prospects to play for EMU in time for to get LOIs in. I mean what do we do wait to see whoever is left over on signing day and sign them?
McCallum just broomed 4 guys but signed an additional 4 plus his son. See above post. Don't expect EMU to announce any signings for a couple of weeks. Apparently Ramsey doesn't like the limelight - MUMS the word.
Dennis, either you have committments by now or you don't. My point is we should have solid committments signing LOIs, not fishing around at this point.
The Ramsey program has the feel of a 4-year JUCO program, if there were such a thing.
yes its nice that according to twitter his staff and him at lunch at the Tower Inn and get frequent flyer miles, how about showing the fans a decent recruiting class and signed LOIs, hm?
My thoughts on this thread:

Thanks for your intelligent input Steve.

Ramsey is going by the book.

SCHOOLS don't do pressers on one signing and then another a week later and then another a week later. Those pressers are designed for the media and avoiding dribbles of info to the media.

Normally, the names leak usually through some media or some industrious fan(s) or the kid's school (less true if it is a JUCO).

The names will get out there in time.

April 14 isn't December 25. It is the start of a month long process.

EMU isn't the only school looking at a bunch of kids.

yeah, but we're the only school in the MAC without a single recruit. that is frustrating. if he was a coach with a track record of signing good quality players than it would be easier to be patient. instead, he's a guy who has recruiting 3 HS players in 5 years who are(or have been) productive players on a DIV I team.

What you say, Aaron, is correct but I'd rather wait until the recruits are known before making a judgement.

Recruits could be JUCO, H.S., transfers or what not.

A little like FB where some of our best recruits were late adds sometimes some nice players end up hoping for a 'BCS' school and end up MAC or Horizon.
I got to agree with Steve here. The issue could be that these kids he's recruiting may not know if they are going to be eligible to play D-1 ball due to the clearinghouse. If they don't clear for D-1, they may have to go D-2 or NAIA.

It could be worse...We could be losing players like Toledo and NIU are.
I like what RE did with his late commits/signees, Hansen (OT-Nebraska), McCoy (JUCO - DT), the Aussie P, and the PK. And as 'Nickle has noted, we just missed on a JUCO DT who got offered at the last minute by So. Carolina.

RE did a very nice job on kids who were looking BCS and ended up at EMU.

I'm hoping Rams is on some kids still hoping for a offer from a bigger program.

This is where the steals come from.
There may be other MAC schools looking for guys but they are schools like Toledo and NIU with coaching changes, here the rest of the MAC:

Ramsey has been in the MAC for a number years. Lets see Oakland, WMU, CMU and Detroit (minus the later two sons) all have impressive recruiting classes. I'd be interested in seeing whether Ramsey's class once announced is on par with the rest of the MAC have a 17 win season.

And as far as EMU football is concerned not many people outside the program were impressed with the last class.
