Yeah, since the 9-3 Trojans were going to sit at home if GMAC didn't select them. Poor research/writing on a bad topic. Makes me wonder if he even knows how bowl contracts work.

When is the vote on this bullsh*t proposal ?
This will hurt the Belt.
I would not have as much of a problem with it, if they did away with the 1-aa win counting toward bowl eligibility every year.
UT-obknoxiousville opens up with UT-Martin in football next season. UT-freakin'-Martin, who MT used to beat by 50 even when we were in 1-aa.
Thank You Rich Sixers, May I have another ?

Since all 11 conferences are now full-voting memebers of the BCS there must be some type of leverage a five confernce coalition can apply to this process.

Won't matter too much until 2013 when the current bowl deals expire. Would have gotten us in Birmingham and Shreveport in 2008 because the 6-6 would have been enforceable.

Thanks to Adler on GMG for this:
According to this article, IAA (FCS) games will no longer count towards bowl eligibility... :)
The council also:
• Passed legislation requiring "deserving" bowl-eligible teams to post a .500 record against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents.
• Delayed the effective date of charging an athlete, who played with professional teammates, a season of eligibility for each year he or she does not enroll in college after one year of high school graduation.
• Defeated legislation that would have eliminated all printed media guides.
• Eliminated the number of phone calls that can be made during contact periods in all sports that have an established recruiting calendar, with the exception of football.

Adler added this in his post (and I agree with his assessment):
On Tuesday, the NCAA's Legislative Council passed legislation requiring "deserving" bowl-eligible teams to post a .500 record against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents. The changes must still be approved by the NCAA's Board of Directors, which meets later this month.
This rule could have a couple of effects if it's approved by the NCAA's Board of Directors. First, the BCS conferences will not be able to send their 6-6 eighth and ninth place teams to bowls if one of their victories is against 1-AA schools (Playoff Subdivision). The other result is that realizing that, lower tier BCS schools will now urgently need to schedule those non-BCS-auto-bid-league schools to replace the 1-AA's. Prices for home-no-return games are going to skyrocket further, and more home-and-home series will subsequently be scheduled.

Sorry Stebo but Adler hasn't read the text of the legislation.
The provision allowing schools to count one FCS as if they were an FBS remains intact. 6-6 with an FCS win will be fully bowl eligible.

Seems as if this will hurt the MAC moreso than the Sun Belt. Am I correct ?
