thoughts about our personnel. They had several stars, and there might be a comparison of our recruits, and a possible recruit that could figure in to future performances.

Jordan Hayward is a kid who was 5'10" in high school and is now 6'9". He can put the ball on the floor, shoot the 3 and rebound. Remind you of anyone? Possibly Will Neighbour. Could Neighbour turn out to be that type of player, and will we ever see him in a Trojan uniform? Shelvin Mack. A slashing penetrator who can score either inside or from the 3 point area. Could Chucky Guy be that type of player? How about the big white kid on the inside. Could Gus Leeper develop into that man?
And how about Reggie Sonnier. Could he be a defensive stopper along with some ability to score? And could this coaching staff put those pieces together to create a championship team? Intriguiging stuff that we'll hopefully be watching the next few seasons.04-cheers

Glad to see the optimistic Dr. J (and Mr. Hyde) is back.

Yes he's back, and in his usual early pre-season form. I can hear him any day now, saying, "we'll win 22 games this year." Come Janurary of 2011, he'll be saying, "I told you guys at the end of last season, we should have made the change then, now we're stuck with him until his lifetime contract is up."04-cheers
There's always resurrection. Coaching beyond life..!

You have to love Dr. J's optimism. It doesn't cost anything to be an optimist and it probably make's one a happier person overall- although it may sting a little more when things don't work out like you expected.

Somehow my words are sometimes misunderstood. What I am trying to say is that I think we'll improve over this season. Now that's not saying a lot. I don't consider that being optimistic. I just don't see how we can help but be a little better this year. And I was speculating that if and I accentuate "if", we end up with a record of .500, or slightly better, is that going to motivate Chris to continue on the same course. For the record, I am not greatly optimistic this season. Unless the new players come in and fill the holes where we are weakest, I can't see us reaching any level that would be satisfactory to most of us in the eighth season of a coach's tenure. I hope I'm wrong. I hope Steve turns this thing around. But there has to be a time frame. It can't go on forever without an NCAA bid. This would have been the optimum time to have made a change. But since it's not going to happen, I'll just whistle a happy tune. I've got more serious things to worry about. Like my putting.04-cheers

Which is the NCAA, and which comes down to three games, and which is very unlikely for this team next year.
Well, then we'll just have to wait until the year after that. Or the next. Or the next.
