The best deal is the seats on the ends. They are opening up both sides of the dome.
So the 5,600 limit is BS?
That will lead to some interesting questions.....
You can only sit so many in the football stands now because of the regulations. So if they open up the east side stands, it will be tiered just like the west side. It makes sense when you think about it.
From the ETSU Notes in the JCP:

Tickets go on sale today for the NBA preseason game in the Dome between the New Orleans Hornets and Atlanta Hawks. The teams play on Oct. 16.

Mike White, ETSU sports information director, said Wednesday that he expects interest to be high in the community.

“We don’t have a definite number, but we hope to sell over 6,000 tickets,” said White. “We have the ability to use some space on the East side stands if there is a demand for those. We’ll also have some additional floor seating.”

To purchase tickets or get more information, call 439-3878.
This is interesting.

I would have thought that season ticket holders would have received priority for this game. It would have been a way to sell seasons if they included it in the package to boost season ticket sales.

Now, by not doing it this way, here are my thoughts-

A- ETSU needs cash now.

B- ETSU is actually showing more scruples than, say, the NFL owners who demand you buy two preseason games at full price for the rest of the season to get season tickets.

C- ETSU is too stupid to figure out that they could sell more season tickets by including this game in a season ticket package and then waiting until, say, Oct. 1 to sell the rest of the seats.
If you read the brochure, season ticket holders were given the first shot at buying them.
I haven't seen the brochure.

But if tickets are going on sale to the general public right now, they can't expect to get a season ticket bump from the game, which I would have thought would have been a major appeal for the game.

I would have thought that they would have tried to get the season numbers to, say, 3,500 or 4,000 and held off sales until the end of the summer. At that point then I would have thought the remaining 2,000-3,000 seats could have been sold rather quickly.
I've now seen the season ticket brochure.

What a self-serving piece of crap!

First of all, what in heaven's name are Stanton and Mullins doing on the brochure? What, am I buying a ticket to a basketball game or an executive meeting?

Here is the sales brochure for the Dallas Mavericks. I chose them because I think we could say that Mark Cuban is the most attention-seeking owner in all of pro sports.

http://www.nba.com/media/mavericks/10Spo...on_uno.pdf

But what do we see when we check out that brochure? Pictures of the players, fans, cheerleaders, even members of the media. You know- things fans would actually be interested in.

It's a 13 page brochure and Cuban, who is probably the most famous guy associated with the Mavericks, isn't seen until page 10 and that's a small picture in the corner of him shouting, presumably from the stands.

Don't ask me why I have this handy, but I am now looking at my season ticket brochure for the 1987 Pittsburgh Pirates. The Bucs had just been sold and were run by many of the civic leaders of Pittsburgh at that time- popular people that fans might have wanted to associate with at the time because the perception was they kept the team in town.

The cover has the Pirates' then-new logo. First page is the picture of the Honus Wagner statue. Next we have Mazeroski's homer, fireworks over Three Rivers Stadium, a picture of the inside of Three Rivers, the Pirate Parrot, here's a picture of a wide-eyed fan holding a bunch of tickets, and now, if you can believe this, a picture of Mike Bielecki and some of his teammates dressing in the locker room with a picture of a fan sitting in an easy chair in the corner, and then a map showing how to get to the ballpark.

But the owner isn't there. Nor is the mayor who was on the Pirates board at the time and was so popular there is a statue erected to him at City Hall today. Neither is the General Manager. Or field manager, for that matter.

Get the picture?

This is just another self-glorifying piece of garbage that ETSU is putting out. THE HORNETS ARE COMING TO TOWN! LET'S PUT STANTON AND MULLINS AND GEORGE SHINN'S PICTURE ON THE FRONT PAGE AND CHRIS PAUL ON THE SECOND!

Hell, that's what real sports fans want to see! Screw the players! Nobody's interested in them!!!!

Who in their right mind would actually market the players participating in such a game? No, I'm sure the fans of Johnson City would much rather have Stanton and Mullins forced down their throats again!

Only ETSU would have the choice of marketing Paul Stanton and Chris Paul and lead with Stanton.
One last thing- Shinn saying "Chris Paul is the best point guard on the planet" in the brochure.

Let's just say he is. But isn't this a bit like Pat Bowlen saying John Elway is the greatest quarterback of all time?

I mean, if I'm going to be set up with a blind date, I'd like someone other than the chick's parents to tell me how pretty she is.

Give me a quote from an opposing coach or a prominent sportswriter praising Paul if you want me to buy a ticket to see him play.

Make no mistake- this game is not like it was in 1994 when the NBA came to town so we could root for Greg Dennis.

This game is about ETSU administration to tell us how great they are. And getting into bed with George Shinn should tell you all you need to know about the company they keep.
