Tod Kowalczyk of UW-GB that is.

3:00 Presser Today
they had a big W over Wisconsin this season.. UWGB has given NIU fits the past few years, but who hasn't
Nice to see the MAC steal a successful head coach from the Horizon League. Toledo appears to be stepping up the financial commitment to bring in a basketball program builder.
It's nice to see that the worst team in the MAC is considered a step up from a Horizon League team that played in the post-season.
Just so he knows...he won't be able the "pass the ball under the scorer's table" play again at the MACC.

I don't know what the assistants will make, but the contract is the same as the last coach.

He commented in his introductory presser that, within the Horizon League, the MAC is viewed as a step up. Didn't elaborate.

The GB board says assistants will make in the $100,000 range. No idea if that's accurate but hey....I always believe the intertubes.
What a fantastic hire by Toledo.

Toledo has spent a boatload of money on facilities so UT is where to be for men's hoops.

This is definitely a 'high ceiling' program.

Interesting move by Coach K.
Something doesnt seem right with this move. Leaving a school near an area where he grew up. No football up there they bball is king. And hate to say the Horizon is a better hoops league than the MAC right now. Dont know his salary at WGB so maybe its all $$ related.

Also an FYI for UT fans after the WGB-Kent game this year when Bo Boroski swallowed his whistle and WGB stole a W from us your new classy head coach mouthed obscenities at the Kent fans (who were sitting no where near the WGB bench). But keep him out of Ottawa Hills and i guess its a step up for UT.

pretty sure his salary is going to be doubled by coming to toledo
much better facilities. twice the pay plus increases for his assts, better recruiting territory, took UWGB about as far as he could and he stock was high enough to get a better job, MAC still seen as a better league than Horizon by recruits and media, even if they are really pretty equal.

coach k said UT gave him a chance to win at a higher level, and given that UT has underacheived the past few yrs and fans are restless he can only improve things. it's a can't lose scenario for the most part. plus, he says he's a huge college football fan and UT gives him the chance to be around "big time college football"

and he did talk a lot about how tough it was to leave green bay

Gosh almighty, I am so disappointed to hear that. Goodness, and the Kent fans are always so gracious. What ever will we do about this foulmouthed young man taking over our program? I am shocked. SHOCKED, I say. And to hear that a referee was the cause of your loss-my, my that's simply awful. I am calling our AD today and demanding this gentleman's ouster post haste!
He mouthed obscenities at the Kent fans!

You've probably never been really close to Bob Huggins, Bob Knight, John Thompson, or even the legendary Dan Hipsher.

Wow, he mouthed obscenities at the Kent fans.
well i'm glad he's got a little realness to him. i thought after the emabarrassing exploits of gene pimpalicious cross that we might end up w the church lady or no better than an up n coming coach from our lady of perpetual virginity u. (man can they buckle down and playy a tight box and one)

Kowalczyk has $255,000 to pay his three assistants. He can divide it any way he chooses.

In all serousness, I sat about 10 rows behind the UWGB bench in Kent at this game. While it's common for fans to be foul mouthed idiots at games around the country, this was the 1st time I've seen it / heard it at the MAC Center from a coach. It wasn't just the swearing. His overall mannerisms were out of control and very unprofessional. He made Dan Dakich look comatose and we know how much you Rocket fans loved his antics. If he acts this way during UT games next season, I'll bet you'll not approve.
Yes, I'm sure he's the second coming of Billy Martin.
Quote:Tim: Well, that's no ordinary coach.
King Arthur: Ohh.
Tim: That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered coach you ever set eyes on!
Sir Robin: You tit! I soiled my armor I was so scared!
Tim: Look, that coach's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!
Sir Galahad: Get stuffed!
Tim: He'll do you up a treat, mate.
Sir Galahad: Oh, yeah?
Sir Robin: You manky Scots git!
Tim: I'm warning you!
Sir Robin: What's he do? Nibble your bum?
Tim: He's got huge, sharp... er... He can leap about. Look at the bones!
