tournament Tom Penders is out at Houston. I really don't think we are in the market for a 64 year old coach-

From Jeff Goodman's twitter account-

A college basketball source told me that in a meeting with UH Athletic Director Mack Rhoades today, the 64-year-old Penders was given the option of being reassigned within the athletic department, resign or be fired. Penders has chosen to resign.

A press conference has been scheduled for Monday to make the announcement.
Rhoades has hired Laurie Wilder of Parker Executive Search to reach out to potential candidates for the job
Well, that is interesting. Probably the end of the line for Penders.

They already have someone in the bag. I bet they announce something this week.

Billy Gillespie?
You know that would make sense.

I remember reading somewhere in January that Penders would be fired at the end of the season and the top candidate was Gillespie to replace him. At that time it was just a rumor. So far one part of that rumor has come true.
How about getting fired after putting your team in the NCAA tournament.

I doubt that Steve would take an assistant job at Houston. How much money are we talking about? Can Houston pay an assistant more than 125k?
An article says he meet his goal of getting to the NCAAT and is now looking for a new challenge.
