We've been there ourselves, and it ain't fun either. 16 seeds are the death penalty. Come on AD at UAPB, give those guys a break and let them off the hook from the brutal schedule of late. They deserve a break. But at least you've been there Pine Bluff, that's more than I can say for our program of late.

It's really unfair to say UAPB is a lousy team because they got hammered by Duke. Very few teams in the country can stay with the talent and coaching that Duke has. The problem with college basketball is that as a general rule, there are eight to ten programs that are capable of winning a national championship year in and year out, and the rest are just, to quote InsideUALR, running laps. Put UAPB in with a lot of decent teams, and on a given night they could either win or play a close game. But when you throw anyone against a Duke or Kansas in the first game of the NCAA, it's like throwing the Christians to the lions.
That's why I hate the seeding method. I would love for a blind draw, where a team like UAPB might just get a break and get a first game against another mid major, or a BCS team that isn't one of the elite programs. But who the hell ever said life is fair?03-banghead
If I remember correctly, the Lions only lost by more than 20 to one of the non-con teams they played. So they weren't awful. Not many teams in the country are going to stay with Duke.
From the Demo article:'
Duke starting five that stood a combined 17 inches taller than the Golden Lions’ lineup.

Were they standing on each other's shoulders or what?04-cheers
