would be Mark Gottlieb. 278-155 record in 14 seasons at Murray State and Alabama. Only one losing season. Only 46 years old. While he seems to enjoy his TV work, I heard him hint during an interview he would like to be a head coach again. I think our last coach from Alabama did a pretty good job. I assume you guys will get your answer some time next week, unless our girls go to the Sweet 16. I certainly never expected anything to happen until after the ladies finished playing.

Are you saying there's still a chance we might make a change? I had given up any hope of a change, but from your post, you seem to believe there might be a chance. I'm still in the "no change" mode at this point. I'll believe it when I see it.04-cheers

Did you honestly believe Chris would do something that would "deflate" the athletic department when everyone there was on "cloud nine" awaiting an NCAA bid or a likely long WNIT run? Never even entered my mind that he would consider doing that.

Really didn't think about that aspect. I still don't believe anything is going to happen in the way of change in the coaching staff. Steve has been out recruiting. If there was going to be a change, most schools take the coaches off the recruiting trail. But maybe you're right. We'll know as soon as the ladies season is over. Well, maybe we will. I'm sure something will be announced, one way or another at the proper time.04-cheers

Gottlieb might be a good choice. But at this point we have no opening for a coach.04-cheers
If Peterson was waiting around until the women get finished to make a change, then we've wasted about two weeks. Some of the potential canidates are already taken. It's not going to happen, and everyone knows it. If he was going to fire Shields, it would have already been done. If you're going to fire a coach, you fire him as soon as the last game is over and get on with the hiring of the new coach. You don't wait until he schedules and advertises his basketball camps.

If you fire him now Mickey, we don't have any chance to get Corliss. He's already taken.

I really don't see how his dismissal would had anything to do with taking the glow off a great women's season. But, I have already given up hope, and am now looking at another year with no post season.

I don't have a clue about coaching change. I do know with the Lady Trojans in the NCAA and UAPB already winning 1 game in the NCAA, I don't see how the AD could not feel depressed about the Men's 23 loss season, and prospects for next year not much if any better. Coaching D-1 Basketball is a tough and unstable occupation. Oftentimes cold hearted decisions are made. I personally felt a coaching change could have been made immediately after the Harding game.
can we get him to wear plaid jackets?
