As to how I think this worked out for MAC schools:

-Akron wanted a home game. They were on the bubble for the NIT but the CIT filled its bracket early. They were more than willing to pony up the 60,000 to host Green Bay.

-Western Michigan was one of 8 to 10 schools on the CIT bubble. To get off that bubble, WMU had to host a home game but the AD was unwilling to host. Thus WMU ended on the wrong side of the bubble in both tourneys.

-Buffalo did not do well enough in the MAC tourney and overall in the league to justify post season participation. Witherspoon continues to have a job because he's able to have a nice year at the right time to save it.
