Crowd looks great on TV.

OHIO 36
Akron 34

Back and forth type of game. It looks to be a good one.
Congrats to OU! A great game and a nice showcase for the conference.

Now, please go out and get a first round win for the conference in the NCAA's.
What a game! Back and forth action, over 9,500 rabid fans in the house, and ESPN astonishingly had top-notch announcer Ron Franklin doing the play-the-play.

Hopefully the quality of this contest is a harbinger for a return of MAC hoops as being relevant on the college hoops scene.

It was amazing. I thought Ohio should have pulled away in the second half when Akron had that field goal drought but was unable to do so with Akron clawing on every possession.

Bassett what can I say, breaks the tourney record for most points by about 30.

Program changing win for Ohio. With this victory Groce is now in the upper echelon of MAC coaches who've made it to the NCAAs.

Extension will be around the corner for Groce and the future looks promising with 6 more talented players coming in for next season. Ohio will finally be over of the perpetual 18-20 win hump and on to be a real contender for MAC regular season titles like Akron and Kent. The type of program that can win 12-14 MAC games every year. This is exactly what the MAC needs.

Now if Toledo can get its act together on its next hire the league could really be on the rise for 2010-11.

Of course do not forget an expansion of the NCAA tourney to 96 teams.

04-cheers

Congrats to Bassett on breaking the tournament record, but I would have to guess that Boykins and Harper did that in 3 games not 4?
Anyone know the attendance at the Gund for the final?

9500
Not bad at all, KC! Props to Akron and OU fans!
yeah it was a good crowd and loud too. everyone was really into the action from the beginning (both sets of fans). and goodness knows, we all got our money's worth of action! whew!!
The MAC hoops tourney is great fun..I've been to a few in my time. I may head over to Fort Wayne if Miami ends up in that regional for the DI NCAA hockey tourney. Love tournament time!
A big part of the attendance came from a promotion with the Ohio Lottery. If you brought any losing lottery ticket, you got a free GA ticket. So you could just go to the ticket office, buy a $1 scratch-off ticket from the machine placed right outside, and get yourself a ticket.

yeah i always love the atmosphere at tournament games! can't wait 'til next year!
Congrats for a great run by Ohio U.! Bassett was really hot and overcame a couple of sub-par performances by Cooper. The bench played with a lot of intensity as well.

Here's a thought: the committee sometimes has sense of story lines and a devilish streak, and I saw one bracketologist who had #15 Ohio U. vs. #2 Ohio St.

I'm guessing they did as well. Bassett also broke it in three as he had the record after the Miami game. But extending it with the 4th game will be hard for anyone to break. He was simply amazing!
