Players will no longer receive gift packages for participating in the MAC tournament.

Yeah, it saves money. But it also makes the conference less desirable for recruits. Who would want to play for a conference that cares more about saving money than it does about the players?

I doubt this makes any sort of actual impact.

Interesting fact, UAkid, but I doubt that ANYBODY even considers this. Gifts for those participating are like giving everybody a trophy for "participation." Save the gifts for those participating in the real dance, as that is some kind of achievement.

I'd love to hear some kid say to the press, "I came here to XYZ University and not to Akron because THIS league gives a gift package to everybody who participates in the league tournament and the MAC doesn't."
