A No-show at the Championship Game?!

I know the game was sold out, but if the Commissioner needed a ticket, I could have scored him one. Was he there, and just left early to beat the traffic?

Quote:The bigger question is, considering the magnitude of the game, the rivalry, the hype and national TV audience, where was first-year MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher with a ceremonial banner, T-shirts, caps, a handshake, something, to give to the regular-season champion?
Since the MAC awards its championship to the tournament champion, he should be there for that. Its the one that matters at the end of the day.
i believe he was at the men's swimming and divining championships at eastern michigan last weekend.
And the wrestling championship at Central Michigan.
And on the Thursday night he was in Oxford to see BG women clinch the MAC championship and attend the women's swimming championships.
Seems like his priorities are screwed up.

The pool starts out empty and the champion is the one who can fill it for the swimming championships.

His priorites include supporting MAC Athletics and the student athletes. What's screwed up with that?

His priorities are to do exactly what a certain faction of MAC presidents tell him to do.

As projected, this guy is a lapdog window dresser. I've got him pegged as a fourth-round pick on American IDLE!
Definitely catching a lot of flack for not being there. Should be interesting to see if a lesson is learned...

Why is he catching flack for missing one regular season game (all be it a critical one) when there were other sports having their championships? Look if he misses out on the MAC Basket ball tournament I can understand that
Are we surprised? He still believes "he needs to talk to few more people" before he can assess where the MAC is and where it needs to go.

He's been on the job for nearly a year and still doesn't know.

Bring back Rick Chryst !!!
I said it last year when a certain faction of MAC presidents forced Chryst out and then brought this guy in that he was going to be nothing more than a puppet. I am not so much referring to his missing the UA-KSU hoops game, but as Nick notes, his comments in that WSJ piece about not knowing enough yet are a little jaw-dropping. 04-jawdrop

Want to know how the MAC presidents see the MAC ? Just watch their little PSA that they are running wherein they make sure to state that the MAC is "poised in defeat." Boy, there's a rallying cry. Then watch other conferences' PSA's. This current board of MAC presidents just thinks it's all touchy-feely good to participate and that's enough. No emphasis on what is needed to win.

Those who were so quick to yell for Chryst to get out are finding out what a tremendous commissioner he was for this league.

BTW Nick ... I am jealous ... wish I could be there in Cleveland!
Sitting at MAC Madness with Luke, the VanDelay team and your MACReportOnline colleague.

We miss ya buddy !!

Thanks for pointing this out. Miss your perspectives, Dave.

I'm not so sure about the current comish, but if Chryst was so good, wouldn't he be doing something now? He seems rather young to be retired.
5,089 last night for semis- sounds like a very successful run in Cleveland may be coming to an end
