That would mean something if we were playing a top team (like Memphis of the past 5 years). That was a horrid performance all around tonight.

To be honest, I don't think UAB played well tonight. They had great intensity in the 2nd half, but overall this was not their best effort.
I also didn't think Memphis played well offensively. The Tigers shot the ball well in the first half, not so well in the 2nd half, but it was enough. Witherspoon had a bad game, so we didn't have much post offense. We rebounded poorly and didn't force many turnovers. Of course, the zone defense was designed to make UAB shoot a poor percentage rather than turn the ball over, and it worked.
The zone D made us shoot very poorly and prevented us from being able to drive or get the ball down low.
It seemed like Memphis made about 300 3's in the first half. They just couldn't miss. What was Memphis' 3 point %?

Memphis is now, and forever will be, our daddy in basketball until we develop the stones to make the necessary changes. Personally, I don't see us doing that for at least another ten years or so.
I believe our players are every bit as talented as Memphis' right now, if not a little more so. I can't quite figure out what could e holding us back yet. Hmmmmm. I'll have to think about that for a while.
Oh sure, we may stumble into a surprise victory every now and then, but it likely won't happen without us catching them sleeping ... literally.
