My brothers, my sisters,
Throughout this season, there's been little need of preaching. Our Belief has been strong, the players have responded, and every night out they Bring The Fight.
Tonight it's different. Tonight we have out final opportunity to show our players what Belief truly means, to fill them with the energy and confidence they will need to win 10 more games away from Bartow Arena. Tonight we make our own history.
You've heard about deafening noise of the Virginia game, about the Indiana game, the NCAA wins in Tuscaloosa and 58-56. You've heard about the storming of the stands in Hattiesburg, you've heard about the Sack of Troy.
It's time to stop hearing about these. It's time to make your own legend, the stand with your brothers and sisters and feel time itself slow to a crawl. Tonight we make a new legend, tonight we show this team that has given so much for us that we will stand with them and give back all the Belief we have. Aaron Johnson bled for you. What do the players deserve in return?
● They deserve to see a full house on the spot early for the entire Senior Day ceremony. Howard Crawford gave this program four years, George Drake and Kenny Cooper came here to make magic in their final year. They have earned our respect and our thanks, and we do not show this by wandering in mid-ceremony.
● They deserve to see a full display of Belief: on your feet or on your knees. This isn't the opera; if you want to sit assfixated upon the green seats of Bartow Arena, there are plenty of fine chamber music performances given in the Stephens Center. Remain on your feet for 40 minutes; if Brian Mackin and his Little Big Man want you to sit for the pleasure of the game-a-year people, force them to remove you. Remind Brian Mackin that this is the birthplace of civil rights. WE WILL NOT BE MOVED.
● They deserve your support, your love, your belief for FORTY MINUTES. Win or lose, anyone who heads for the exits before the clock reads 00:00 deserves to be smothered in that orange plastic goo they put on the nachos. There is no excuse: if you abandon your team, then you are among the damned and are no brother or sister of mine. Put on blue and gray and obsess about Catspause, or put on crimson and fellate a dead bear, but you are no Blazer.
This is our team, these are our players, and this is our year. THIS is next year.
