The regular season wrapped up tonight with not too much at stake. Unlike the men, there was a decent amount of separation in the standings already. It's tournament time now!

Akron earns a MAC tournament bye for the first time in program history.
Actually, there was a lot at stake on Tuesday night, as a Toledo win and a BG loss could have given the #1 seed and the overall MAC championship to Toledo. Congratulations to Kurt Miller and the BG Falcons on winning an unbelievable 6th consecutive regular season championship. Miami gave it all they had as they pushed the Falcons to the last minute and BG held on to win by 5. Lauren Prochaska basically picked up the team and carried them on her back tonight as BG shot only 29%. Prochaska had 24 points and guarded Maggie Boyer and held her to two points. Miami lost their 21 st game, but there is some hope for the future as Miami was led by Freshman Cortney Osborn with 23 points and Freshman Kirsten Olowinski with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Miami's effort was hurt by the fact that starting small forward (the person who usually guards Prochaska) Rachel Hencke missed the game with a leg injury. Should Miami be able to beat NIU at home on Saturday, we will get another crack at BG in the MAC Quarterfinals. For whatever reason, Tracy Pontius does not seem to be playing as well as she has in the past. BG might need her at her best to survive next week.
And EMU could have earned a first round bye had Akron or KSU lost.

There are 5 really strong teams.

Congrats to a lot of teams like Akron, EMU, etc. who were much better then expected this year.
