I don't know why EMU is so content to play grind it out hoops. (I assume NIU also like to grind).

Should get Medlock to try and create some tempo, even after made baskets.

Half court games tend to disintergrate into a lot of missed shots even with post players like ours.

Everyone just packs it into the paint and even the inside game get to be hurt by all of the traffic inside.

FT shooting. Ugh!!
Ugly win is still a win...

But playing so much packed in the paint means a lot of collisions, fouling, blocks, etc. and without much spacing I assume FG percentages will go way down.

Should be absolutely NO surprise our bigs had foul trouble - the game was like driving in NYC.

Fast break basketball lead to a lot of points and high FG percentage (and less fouls).

And fans ought to turn out to see the home finale for Carlos, and Justin.

I might be wrong but didn't Carlos lead EMU in their win against Ben Braun's Cal Bears 5 years ago??
Just wondering ... is attendance picking up at all with the recent winning streak?

1,499.

Nemo wondered if we couldn't find one more attendee?

The game vs. CMU should be the test. Senior night, MAC west, etc.

BTW, Dave, the problem appears to be the locals - they've lost interest. The students are turning out to the best of my knowledge.

Spring break hardly any students where there.

Good crowd without students.

That (lack of students) should hurt the women Tuesday.

I watch a lot of these games on EagleVision and the majority of the attendees are students.
Todays win wasen't pretty, a lot of whistles, no flow. Defense won it for EMU in my opinion. Additional fact, we missed 22 free throws for the day in addition to a few layups. But we won nevertheless.

Thursdays game against CMU is a big one.
We still have a slim chance to win the MAC west and a good chance of getting of getting a first round home game if we don't.

Actually it's a better than slim chance. If EMU beats CMU and WMU beats BSU then EMU wins the west.
Toledo up 30-15 at halftime over BSU 03-cloud9

One more -- LOL! Gotta love Nemo.

I don't know what it is going to take to get the locals interested again --- keep winning I guess. But with Rams and the team putting together this nice little string of wins, the team deserves some press and attention. Nice turnaround from the gloom and doom of midseason. Let's hope they can keep it going.

I posted before the Toledo/BS game. Toledo beating BS just shows how pathetic the MAC west is.

Actually, I am pretty sure we prefer an up-tempo game rather than a grind it out game. It has been mentioned on our board(and seems to be true) that we are not a very strong team(physically) compared to many of the other MAC teams. We have a tendency of playing the physical teams physically in the first half and are competetive but end up getting "out physicalled"(if that is even a word) in the second half because we don't seem to "out physical" the other team for a full game.

As for the game, I think a huge factor in your winning was Anderson getting 2 fouls early. If he or Silas get into foul trouble early and miss a considerable amount of time, we are in big trouble and most of the time end up on the losing side of things. We just don't have a lot of firepower on the bench. We appear to be getting a couple interesting players next year so hopefully this will change next year.
Interesting who (I don't know) dictated yesterday's style and tempo?

I did not see the game(listened until the feed was lost) but it seemed like the first quarter was a bit slower than we like. The game seemed to have sped up in the second half which I think was to our benefit(we did get up by about 7 or so) but I think the "out physicaled" came into play at the end(as usual).
1) our students have been great this year. i've never seen those two sections so full.

2) Ramsey is in love with his 1/2 court offense, and it makes no sense to me. our offense would be fine if we had good 3pt shooters, but we do not. we do have a lot of athletic players who would be able to run. Dobbins would be out of the mix, but how often do you have a guy of Bowdry's size and physicality who can run? i think we'd be great at it.

3) I agree with RobertN, Jake Anderson sitting for almost the entire first half was a huge blessing. He got to the basket at will in the second half. i was wondering why they didn't get him the ball more. he's a great player.

Agree. I'd thought this team could run. Maybe I just don't understand something.

If I were coaching against this team, I'd pack the zone in, bang the big boys (try to get them to foul out), and make it an ugly 3-point shooting game. Oops, seen that script.

"pack the zone in." exactly.

we can't shoot 3pt shots and can't pass well enough to beat the zone, yet we don't try anything different. it's frustrating.

This team just might be a really good 3 point shoot 2G from being at the top of the MAC.

This team is close, much closer then some would think by looking at our record.

IF we had a zone buster, Dobbins and Bowdry would own the paint.

The amazing thing is that Ramsey got the hard pieces to find (Bowdry, Dobbins, and Medlock) and couldn't get the easy pieces (SF and SG).

That is why some teams win 17 games and others win 23...
Too bad Danny McElhanny couldn't be added to this team. He shot better from 3 range than some on this roster shoot from the Free Throw stripe.
