This display, in particular on offense tonight, is beyond the atrocious. Because they are not attempting to run any sort of offense to even create easy shots. Anyone can have an off night. Any team can have a game where its top scorers struggle. But the lack of any sort of adjustment and absolutely NO offensive movement is inexcusable and makes Mick look like a joke of a coach pure and simple.

I realize Yancy is simply a lazy unmotivated soft excuse for a big man tonight, but we make no effort to feed the post before he got disinterested in the game. And then to simply resort to two guards just kind of driving one on one and tossing up shot after shot without a single pass shows how far we've truly sunk.

I can't comprehend how we are worse offensively with more talent than we were last year or the year before. It is the most dysfunctional team I've ever watched.

Nice adjustments Mick. Just keep subbing in and out that seems to work well. And then just stand there after mistake after mistake. He showed not one hint of emotion or reaction until there was 9 minutes left and he finally got ticked at a call. Sorry but spare me how amazing USF's D is, how young we are, how "we're not that talented offensively." A CYO coach could devise an offense that gets our decent offensive players good shots.
Consistently inconsistent. The calling card of this team and this program. Sorry I don't "expect" to lose this way to anyone, not Cuse, not Nova, not Kansas and sure as sh*t not to South Friggin Florida.
There's no excuse for this at all. I have no hope that this ship will ever rise above mediocrity with this kind of coaching and leadership.
Unfortunately we probably have to go through all of this again next year, if not the next 2 years.
Has there ever been a worse free throw and 3 point shooting team.
The buzzsaw in the remaining schedule may, in fact, be the mid-pack BE teams hungry for wins..so look out for DePaul and Marquette...

Does this team practice? What do they do?

Never. Both are the worst I have ever seen.
Their shots don't fall because they don't get good shots. They look lost, confused, and tentative in the halfcourt.

With the only real strength of the team being rebounding, their entire focus should be getting shots up and at the rim. If they don't have a good basketball IQ or any real skills (they don't) then they should simply use their athleticism, spread the floor and drive/kick. Mix in a little pressure d just to increase the tempo of the game. You have long athletes like Stephenson, Wilks, Bishop, etc. and Mick is dead set on turning them into Hickory High circa 1954. FOUR PASSES! FOUR!

I know it's hard to glean anything from garbage time but you see how much more fluid the team plays when they're allowed to run a little bit, drive to the hoop, shoot in rhythm. You can't turn Amare Stoudemire into Larry Bird no matter how hard you try. Mick's major fault this season has been failing to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of his players and adapting the gameplan to maximize their talents. Sad, sad, sad.
Just to make my point about getting shots to the rim...

During one 4½-minute stretch in the first half, the Bearcats went scoreless in eight straight possessions, with one missed shot, one blocked shot and six turnovers.
inexperience or guys playing out of position in the most important position on the floor.

You must be rolling in the $$$GREEN$$$ this year! More power to you I say 04-bow
with poor 3pt shooting and our athletic ability I'd think we could try the Princeton offense with backdoor cuts...no....you have to have some idea of how the game is played and a fundamentally sound approach to the game to make the Princeton offense work...nevermind.
this team needs Gene Hackman off of Hoosiers......

I played on a team. We were the slowest, shortest worst shooting team in a over 30 league. We would have given this version of the Bearcats a fit.
Really? That was bad offense? Jesus H. Crimany. Some of you act like this was an offensive juggernaut that just went in the tank.

Been saying it for what seems like forever...this is a NIT quality lineup. Can't shoot. Juco PF gives you D and rebounding but makes you play 5 on 4 on offense when he's on the court. PG's are streaky at best (they all sucked tonight). Oh, and the team leader has no heart most games until its streetball in garbage time.
I just don't understand. Every time I watch the Bearcats play, they look totally different then any other team you will watch on tv. They actually look like they don't know where to be on the court, who should have the ball, and where to go. They just stand, and dribble until the shot clock is like 4 and just throw up a prayer. I pitty the team who takes lance. He may have a good half game now and then, but other than that, he can't make a shot. Every time Ibrahima Thomas gets the ball, you know he is going to shoot it every time no matter where at on the court. Don't get me started on gates, Vaughn. They just play more like a 7th grade team instead of college. I don't think I have ever felt so frustrated in them in my life. At least the last 3 years or so you can say there was no talent and rebuilding. There is just no excuse for this year.... Micky Mouse must go!!!!!!
Seems like for some people it's always the players and never the guy that's supposed to be making them better players. Who's responsible for helping guys improve their skills, knowledge of the game, understanding offensive sets, understanding defensive positioning, and getting them motivated from the minute they step foot on the court and until the final whistle?

The Head Coach said earlier this year that we finally were deep enough to make a serious run, but now we don't have the quality or the "horses" to compete....sounds like there's 12 guys being used as scapegoats.
Its definitely the guy since he brought in these players. Open fire. Talk with the mod that often sits with me during games and you'll know that I sure as hell am.

That being said, this roster snookered a bunch of folks this year that wanted so badly for it to be a NCAA squad that they either conned themselves into believing that it really was or honestly, they just did not know better. If it were not for the C-Paw on the chest, most of the folks who swore that this was a NCAA lock roster back in October would have gladly bet $$ that this squad was NIT bound. It just aint' that good.
I didn't see any of the first half and turned it on for that ofer at the start of the second. I see a quality player like Dion Dixon stand outside the arc for an entire possession and not move then it leads me to only one, obvious, conclusion. Mick is clueless.
Any time Toyloy and Gates were on the floor together they fell all over each other.

Old School is right. It is Mick. Mick, start packing; please.

Rath, I think they have the talent to be an NCAA squad, but you need a coach to bring it out of them and Mick can't get that done.
I respectfully disagree about the talent and have done so pretty consistantly going back quite a ways. Objectively, the guys we need to rely upon to win against good teams have more holes in their game than a block of gruyere cheese and the backups are just not up to snuff in the BE.
